Both pc's are updated to WU6 + all updates for the other WU and base. Also the latest Windows Updates are installed.
I started MSWFS on both pc's and closed MSFS after entering the menu to be sure it was working.
Did a restart of both pc's.

I use no chaches as I have 600 mbit IN connection on both pc’s.

The Left View client was still runing MSFS.
I use Prosim cockpit suite, so only outside views without panels.

All advises are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I know this is going to sound funny but do you have MS Defender Antivirus disabled?  Every time I got a CTD it turns out my A/V was doing a Quick Scan in the background.  I thought I had actually shut it down entirely, don't run A/V on my sim machines traditionally but apparently MS thought they knew better.  Whenever there was a CTD sure enough there was an A/V scan in the background.  Now I do a Quick Scan manually before my sim session and haven't had a CTD since.

I know, it is probably not related to what you are seeing but it did make a difference for me so thought I'd at least share...

I was reading the AI development thread here on Avsim where Kaii mentions  native FSX (non MSFS) models all needing conversion to MSFS specs because they are causing CTDs. A lot of airports, payware and freeware, include static aircraft and I'm wondering if they're the cause of most everyone's CTDs.  Greg mentions a CTD near the German-France border and I've read other threads where the posters indicate a specific area where the CTD occurs.

Is there an addon airport in the area that gets loaded into the sim and suddenly causes a crash? I can't check this because I'm not experiencing any CTDs in the two latest updates since I've been running the sim with only a few addon airports, FSDreamteam KORD, KSDF, CYVR and LSZH, and Flightbeam KDEN and KPDX. Those six airports are always in the Community folder so always active. I keep them up to date. Addon Linker has disabled the others since I'm too lazy to see if they're compatible with the newest updates.

I'm not even sure if static aircraft at an airport would cause the CTD Kaii is describing but thought I'd bring up the idea.

Gerard, this doesn't help explain the CTD, but isn't it a bit premature to troubleshoot this one-time event?  Perhaps duplicate the flight and see if it happens again.

Hi guys,

I just saw that just before the CTD, Windows tried 3 times to start Defrag on a J drive (SSD)….

I normally use Proces Lasso abd if I see the Defrag exe I disable it.

So tomorrow I will try the same flight.

Regarding Proces Lasso and MSFS : I do not let PL start with Windows. After MSFS has loaded into the scenery I start up PL.

I just had several CTDs in a row, upon launching MSFS, and these are the first in almost 4 months. I had just installed an updated pushback app from ambitious pilots, version 1.31. I removed it, no CTD, I reinstalled it, CTD again, and this version is supposed to be approved for SU 5. Luckily I kept the previous version , 1.30, installed that, and everything back to normal. Just goes to show that one app can cause all kinds of problems.

Sounds like you have been properly initiated into MSFS 2020.

SSD drives should never be defragged, if you have Windows 10 it should recognize them and trim them periodically (in a few seconds): https://www.crucial.com/articles/about-ssd/what-is-trim

Early MSFS CTD problem was because you used an AMD graphic card in your computer. Am I right ?

Yeah, about 5 months ago, what has that got to do with what I posted?

Good way to ruin an SSD drive is to defrag it.
