Some time ago I purchased the Virtavia C-17 from SimMarmket.  Well, I want to reinstall it because I can't find it so I went to SimMarket to redownload it.

But in the little download box where you watch the download progress I got the following message...Virtavia_C-17_FSX_v3_1.msi was blocked as unsafe by Microsoft Edge.

WRF is Microsoft Edge and how the he** do I get rid of it?

It downloads OK on my other computer.  But I want Microsoft Edge off this one.

Relax. You can't uninstall Microsoft Edge so ignore it like most everyone else does. You said you got the C-17 downloaded so go enjoy flying it.

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

Maybe the only way to get out from under the thumb of Microsoft is to get rid of computers completely.  I've really been thinking about this.  Microsoft has by that pair of spherical organs. (Man, what we have to go through to get a point across).

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱

Thanks Charlie.

My computer is different from everyone else's.  That's why I have so much trouble.

When I scrolled down and clicked on settings my personal profile came up.

There was a menu there and I selected privacy, search and services.  The thing I was supposed disable was there.

I went back to SimMarket and was able to download what had been blocked before.

@Penzoil3 I think he meant his brain is different from everyone else’s. Computers and windows are pretty much the same, but brains can vary a bit.

Au contraire!  Computers ARE different.  I did NOT mean my brain is different.

Charlie sent me the following link.

https://www.cnet.com/tech/computing/how-to-tell-microsoft-edge-to-let-you-download-a-file-its-

When I opened it I got this:

.Open Edge and click the triple-dot button in in the upper-right

.Scroll down to the bottom of the right-hand panel and click Settings

.Scroll down to the bottom of Settings and click View Advanced Settings

.Scroll down to the bottom of Advanced Settings and toggle off Help protect me from malicious sites and downloads with Windows Defender SmartScreenblocking/

Well, when I clicked settings I did NOT get the third option...View Advanced Settings.

Instead I got a split screen with Your Profile on the Right and Settings on the left.

By going down the options on settings I found PROFILE..

PROFILE

       PRIVACY SEARCH AND SETTNGS

            SECURITY

                 MANAGE CERTIFICATIONS

                       MICROSOFT DEFENDER SMARTSCREEN

Under that I found Help protect me from malicious sites and downloads with Windows Defender SmartScreenblocking

I turned that off and now I can download the items that Edge had blocked.

It's not my brain that is different, it's my computer that you can see did NOT show what it was supposed to show (.Scroll down to the bottom of Settings and click View Advanced Settings) but the split screen page that I spent a half hour going through until I found the item I was supposed to turn off.

Yes, I have a problem with modern computers but I AM NOT A DIMWIT!!!

Different doesn't necessarily mean that. Albert Einstein's brain was different, too.

Not a problem, Noel, as long as you accomplished the task and are happy with the outcome.  You may have some settings that are set that caused what you saw.  Other may have the settings different than you do. 😀

They are not.  Different motherboards.  Different video cards.  Different processors.  Not everyone has the same amount of memory.  Different installed programs.  Windows 10 Professional.  Windows 10 Home (which I have).  Different setups.  Different ISPs.  There are a lot of differences.  I might go as far as saying very few home computers are the same.
