October 19, 20214 yr I thought this would be changed in SU6 to let us go to 400? Only Terrain LOD is able to be set at 400. October 19, 20214 yr Yes I notice that also, I tried 300 but the performance loss was terrible on the ground. System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

October 19, 20214 yr Author Well I guess I'll just set it to 400 in the cfg file like I always have then. Yes I did to, but I fly in Scandinavia, but both terrain and objects lod's was very bad there before the patch, that is probably why I noticed a performance loss after this patch. October 19, 20214 yr Author I haven't tested Object LOD at 200 yet. I will give it a try, although it will probably be difficult for me to spot a difference since I have been using a custom value of 400 all this time. But if the new value of 200 in SU6 is the same as 400 prior to SU6 then this is great! October 19, 20214 yr what's the difference? terrain LOD extends the detail but object LOD only increases visible detail to the extent that there is an available level of detail to increase to. Its like being able to have a super high def image of a 16x16 pixel photo. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
October 19, 20214 yr Object LOD had basically no effect on FPS previously, I doubt that has changed, even if it was set to 500. Object LOD is only relevant for aircraft or custom airport vehicles, certainly not terrain, buildings or photogrammetry - and it's the latter that eats up FPS. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
October 20, 20214 yr This video nicely shows the improved draw distance: Especially the last part showing Mount Bromo on Java shows that also tree draw distance is now increased tremendously. Although no info given to the video whether or not the one capturing this also modded the config for the object LOD, but I guess no...
