October 26, 20214 yr Rob, If you open the crash dumps (i.e. C:\Users\YOU-USER\AppData\Local\CrashDumps\FlightSimulator.exe.XXXXXXXX.dmp) in WinDbg ("Preview") program (download from MS Store), then click the "!Analyze -v" link, wait for completion, then look into STACK_TEXT section. If it has "ucrtbase" then issue may be about VC runtimes. In this case, uninstall all VC runtimes (Control Panel->Programs and Features) and download/reinstall them from MS site, then reboot. If STACK_TEXT has CoherentGT(...) then issue may be about avionics.
October 26, 20214 yr Is your X.M.P disabled in your BIOS? When I got my new computer it was driving me crazy that I kept getting CTD's. Absolutely nothing worked until someone quietly mentioned about checking my X.M.P setting. Sure enough, it was enabled. I'm not sure if this will help, but maybe with the Windows 11 installed it changed it. So yeah, just make sure it's disabled in your BIOS.

Mine is at c:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\000901FB94F5029A_00000000000000000000000069F80140\ Please make a copy of all files and folders within before you start to remove or edit anything! Insiode this folder there are a number of folders with long names constisting of hexadecimal (0-9, A-F) characters. Inside each folder there are a few files. One of these, also with a long hexadecimal name, contains either a controller profile or gibberish. Ignore the latter since I don't know what they are for. you can open these with a text editor like Notepad++ If they contain gibberish, ignore this folder and skip to the next. If they contain readible text, usually starting with something like "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>", they are xml files of your current and discarded profiles. Looking in these files you should be able to find the same names you currently have inside the controller setup within the sim, but some of these you might have removed. I had several files containing profiles for controllers I no longer used. To remove a profile, simply move the folder it is in to somewhere else on your PC.You can always move it back if things don't work out. Good luck, I hope this works for you. October 26, 20214 yr Author Thank you everyone. If needed I will try every suggestion made here. This morning I uninstalled the program through Steam and then went manually thr9ough the registry using the Find command and deleted every single reference to the program. I also went through my drives and deleted every file and folder related to the program. I am now installing again just to see if that might help. If not I will be going through all your suggestions one by one. I am not hopeful but if I don't try everything I will not have a chance to fix the issue. October 27, 20214 yr Author OK, Update: basing mu numbers strictly on the in-sim developer performance monitor, I am getting a lot less FPS on Windows 10 than was being reported on Windows 11. Since I was suffering with CTD's it's hard to say if I would have realized that gain in flight. But with Windows 10 the sim is reporting nearly half what it was reporting with Windows 11. Now I realize that could be a developer reporting bug but still ......... I really want to go back to Windows 11 but I tried every single suggestion made and still could not stop the CTD's. Even just sitting in the main menu it would CTD after about 15 or 20 minutes. If anyone has any other suggestions, I am all ears. I have great backups so can go back and forth, although it takes a while to complete a full system restore. Much more there for MSFS problems. As for which versions asked by Rob G, I'd at least get all currently supported (2012 up) in case you have a program that still needs them. Some programs may require a version that's not on that page (TrackIR for instance requires a specific 2013 version) so just note that you may have to reinstall or repair some programs to get the needed redistributable. October 28, 20214 yr Author Well now I am completely bummed. I am getting CTD's after restoring my Windows 10 system. That makes me think the sim is the culprit since it's doing it under both Windows 10 and Windows 11. If I start the sim and just let it sit, doing nothing, on the main menu, some time between 20 and 30 minutes later it will CTD. I even opened HWINFO to watch temps to make sure the GPU was not overheating. It never went above 67 degrees, and it's an RTX 3090, which Intel says can withstand 91 degrees safely. I just don't know what to do. I am inclined to go back to Windows 11 since reverting to Windows 10 doesn't seem to resolve the problem. And since sim updates are forced, I can't go back to an earlier version of the sim. I am thinking about maybe installing the app from scratch again and not installing any world updates to see if that makes any difference. As you all know, everything you try takes so word not allowed long to get set up AND TEST. I know that Xplane does not have all the bells and whistles that MSFS does, but while I wait for MSFS to work properly, is Xplane fun to use; does it have these types of frustrating issues? I hate to spend more money on flight sim software. I invested about $4500 on my gaming computer specifically for MSFS and now essentially I can't use it and don't know why. What do you all think I should do at this point? Think I should go ahead and restore Windows 11 and wrestle this problem from that base? Should I try Xplane and just wait for more MSFS updates and keep trying it?
