XP 12 Sneak Peek (Clouds)

The video is on their Youtube channel (and the first page of this topic). The remark for the 25fps is made in the comment section of the said video.

Thanks.  I tried to zoom into the video but I could not see the FPS counter, if the FPS counter was on the top left.  Whatever was on the top left, it was too blurry when I zoom in.

Well, I tell you all what - we can agree to disagree, you can hope for Laminar to do this or that - they will do what they think is right.

X-Plane is alive and well and those that enjoy it will have a great time with it in the future, those that don´t like it can squirm and argue, not buy it or hate on it here (or fly some other simulator)...it really won´t change a thing.

Those that predicted (and/or hoped for) certain death for X-plane are realizing that they are in for a disappointment. And if they still believe it will happen, lets talk again in ANOTHER year (it didn´t materialize as predicted with the release of MSFS... 🙄)

PS: We have some dimwits, village idiots, haters in disguise and endless-arguers here on the forums, we all know who they are... so I am out of the discussion for the remainder of the time until XP12 releases. Enjoy the mindless back and forth!

It's nothing to do with hating. It's, putting it bluntly, whether XP12 will match MSFS in terms of visuals and performance. Because I want to know where my money will be best spent?

When people, in a discussion, have to resort to the lowest levels of personal attacks, that's usually a good indicator which side of the discussion has the better arguments.

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Everybody on here bashing Pre-Alpha xp12 ignored the inconvenient fact that the FPS counter was unreadable, and then went on to make false equivalencies to support a weak argument.

Ignore the Troll. He's was the one pushing them to stop development of XP11 and leaving it in such the poorly optimized state it is today.

Coming from you thats a compliment, and I do not know of anyone here who said development should not be continued, not one. More rants.

The guys have demoed the new XP12 volumetric clouds. So what do You think ?

While it is solid improvement, the lightning affects are still from 15 years ago.

You missed the part where he said still a long way to go?

Ouch. There is no way you can run VR with that performance. At this point, there's almost zero chance I will buy XP12.

Twenties is even a pain if you're just running on screen. And just imagine you try running the Q4XP on that. That's a slideshow then.

Yikes.

Erm, several times the phrase 'a long way to go' was said.

All these preview shots and videos look very nice indeed. But they are just eye candy until we know whether normal mortals with an average PC can actually get to see them with an acceptable fps on their PC's. Until then, it's just prefabricated unnecessary bling and, to be frank, marketing hype.

You think LR are going to release a product that doesn't run on an average PC?

Not once in the history of software development has a new, visually more complex release of a software resulted in lower hardware requirements with better visuals than its predecessor. If you want all the bells and whistles, get better hardware. Period, end of discussion, over and out, etc.

That said, even my 5800X & 6900XT combo will likely start sweating with XP12 and my 4800H & 2060 powered laptop will be completely out of the loop.

'Over and out'?  Its either 'over' or 'out', you can't have both in one transmission!

Yes but the point I am making is that these screenshots and promo vids are  meaningless if the majority of users will never actually be able to see them in their sim. I guess it's a matter of wait and see.

Your point is meaningless as the video shows a very early rendition of the software.  The important thing is volumetric clouds are replacing the poor clouds in XP11.  At release you will have the option of reducing graphics settings and keep the same hardware, buy new hardware if required to experience a jump in graphics realism or just keep XP11.

The choice will be yours.

You will need to ask that question when XP12 is released.

Reduce the graphics settings? Reduce them from what? Is there a default setting from which most people will have to reduce the settings in order to run it? Or spend two grand on a new graphics card? Not a realistic choice then because basically it will be XP11 unless one's got a five grand PC, I think I know where I'll be spending my money.
