Himalaya Mesh for Microsoft Flight Simulator

So, I plugged Issyk-Kul into the left side search bar, there's an AP called Issyk-Kul UCFL right on the lake. Karakol is region capital. Hard to see in picture, but there are 5 airstrips within 1 NM of the lake, all around it.spacer.png

It really is stunning, especially with clouds coming off the mountains. The ground textures are pretty good in that area as well.

That Orbx can do a 10 m mesh for this vast region and not MS/Asobo is a mystery for me.  MS seemed not have hired a decent GIS expert, just trust the Bing team to deliver.

It gives a default mesh inconsistent in quality over short distances . I have just flown from Srinagar to Kargil in Ladakh through the valleys. The mesh is quite good in the first half,  not so good to frankly bad around Zojila pass  in the second half.

And there are lots of areas in that map with gorgeous mountain scenes. Flying around Krygyzstan’s Issyk-Kul lake strongly recommended!

Thanks for the suggestion!

This makes me want to explore the Hindu Kush, the lowlands and river deltas of Pakistan, Punjab, Nepal and further East.

Does anyone know how the ground texture quality is in western parts of China? Hmm, on Bing Maps it's pretty good actually. Maybe it's good in the sim too.

Here's a "ground-level" look at the lake from some overlanders I follow on youtube - absolutely stunning part of the world

This is apparently out now so I’ll be downloading when I get home in about an hour.

Just wondering what are the closest airports to Everest and other mountainous locations ?

Very cheap at 8 euros ! Only thing we don’t know how heavy SU7 is going to be and some of us will have to manage their cap. The Himalayas 20 GB are 10 % of my cap. I hope to be able to manage both this month !

After some flights around Kyrgyzstan and Nepal, gotta say great value. Nice boost to the immersion.

This is a 2 million square miles region so expect quite a few   in  the pre-himalayan hills but also inside the valleys. Everybody and his cousin will tell you Lukla and Paro. I’d add some of my favorites, off my head, Leh, Srinagar, Gilgit, Putao, Dibrugarh, and so on and so forth.

The best I can tell you is open Google Earth and look around.

Buy a cheap SATA SSD, install it there and add it with addon linker to the community folder? 🙂

I am talking of my ISP cap. My 4g connection is limited to 200 gb per 30 days. It stinks but ADSL is really bad.

Certainly is cheap, might grab it later as I love my mountain/valley flying and want to explore the lake in this thread!
