This does not match my experience at all. The only crashes I have ever had were while I was missing an airport in dev mode. Regular flying has been super stable. Note: The only add-ons I have are Navigraph, FBW, Flytampa KLAS, and Flightbeam KDEN, KPDX, and KIAD. No others.

Same here. I never had any issues updating, either. It always makes me wonder why some folks always have problems. Never mind. I'm in the computer industry. Thank God for people like that. They've put food on my table my entire adult life. 😁.

I'm sure some folks have had no issues with updates.

But that's not the case for all folks, infact the sim is being labeled as "Microsoft Download Simulator" in some areas.

Chaps & Chapesses, I've just read the Steam feedback via the Posted link - it is indeed a worry!!  The shame is I was almost ready to go ahead in light of many of you recommending going with the Steam Version........ Hmmmmm....... Reading the Feedback also seems to suggest things are getting worse with the passage of time ( Updates??)   Rather than improving.

The previous recommendations stand.. you can worry yourself crazy, reading ratings and reviews..

Every update has had its problems, but here we are, flying Carbon Cubs to Idaho tomorrow and planning to have a blast 😉

There are two distinct  issues :

- the procedure of validation to access the updates, user experience shows that Steam is way better and that MS doesn’t do much to improve the way their access works.

- the speed of download, it should identical as the bulk comes from MS servers in any case (Steam has a small launcher). I have noted a real improvement over the months but it really depends when you do the download. A little thinking is useful, considering the time it is in Europe and in the US.   For the record, I have a mediocre 4g connection and the 25 GB of the last update took me about 2.5 hours. Not bad in my opinion.

I'm still learning, and wondering quite how I will achieve this. As it is, I'm pretty tied up with the approaching holiday season etc. but I'll see how things go. At least I now know I will need to set aside a slot for the downloading....... 🙂

I can relate to those citing the internet as a primary block.

It makes one wonder if flight simulation will continue to be a niche market but now for another reason.

The good News - I bit the bullet!!

The Bad News...... I've Failed at the first hurdle I'm afraid - and I started so confidently!!!

For good or bad I went with the MicroSoft Store Download.... I'm afraid that is where it ended. They managed to take my payment without a problem -  that was predictable 😞

I'm logged into 'My Micro Soft Account'  and Microsoft Premiem Game of the Year. I have my Receipt with the 'Order History' loaded and showing 4 icons of the 'Sim.'   'Digital Ownership'  and 2 'Upgrades. but can't find where to go and  start the Download - Clearly I'm a bigger Numpty than even I thought.

Further Question:  Am I hi-Jacking my own Thread and should I now start a New Post for help with this?
