November 23, 20214 yr ORBX Himalaya mesh I have been to Gilgit twice courtesy of the Pakistani Airforce. But flying from Gilgit to Srinagar is a deadly exercise, as the Indian Airforce will hunt you down, as soon as you venture into Indian airspace. Luckily there is no such thing in MSFS. Freedom rules the skies! I hope, ORBX will do the Andes too. November 24, 20214 yr Lovely, Bernd, really lovely. I have done several trips out of Srinagar, it is always a pleasure. I look forward to getting the mesh when my capped quota of bandwidth will allow me. Everybody goes to Lukla and the Everest or Paro. Nothing wrong about that but there is a myriad of stunning destinations in the region. And Srinagar to Gilgit (or Ladakh) certainly qualifies. November 27, 20214 yr Remarkably beautiful scenery...accessible to the privileged few...🙂....thanks for sharing... (and, glad you stayed safe from the cross-fire...) ...
November 27, 20214 yr I have never been to Gilget but will never forget two months spent on a houseboat on Dahl Lake in Srinigar and the beautiful Gulmarg. It is sad that there has been so many years of tension and restriction in such special places. I will never forget that road journey on the old road that wound up there. Flying is less stressful. Aaaah, that is what I always wanted to do, but never accomplished. And, as you said, now it's not very safe to go there. What a shame, the area is so beautiful!!
