The P3D 'Methodical Installation'....

Just a couple more flying over the Detroit River areas...with massive scenery 'impaction'.  No effect upon the animation of the plane flying over it...or blurring out due to vRAM exhaustion.

Totally 'default' P3D v5.3 scenery with all sliders for scenery depiction fully to the right on the sliders..:

This is extremely interesting. I think I’ll give it a try. Can always just reinstall Global if I don’t like it.

How about ORBX airports such as KSAN. Will they still be usable? There’s also many ORBX freeware airports.

Just so you know, that if you have Orbx Global already installed, you can't merely uninstall it, and why?  Because it overwrites default P3D scenery files, so you have to uninstall the Scenery and then reinstall from the 3PD v5.3 zip.  Only the Scenery needs to be done, and then don't install any Orbx Global beyond that point, or you will not see only P3D default. Just so you know...

Post Edit, Sparkrite below stated this would not happen if your Orbx Base is installed in the Library instead of the Root Folder, such as mine presently was...

Surely that's only if Orbx Global Base has been installed into the P3D root folder and not into it's own external ORBX library ?

AFAIK, for a while now ORBX have adopted a policy of NOT overwriting default files hence the use of external libraries.

Oh then, that could be, Spark...for I do have mine installed in FOLDER.   So, I might revert to that...never too old to learn a new trick..and thanks.

BTW, I just installed LC_North America, (still experimenting) and lost about 8 FPS in doing that.   I am more and more seeing that I will stick with full five slider P3D default, as that keeps me at 27-33 FPS, and smooth with no animation artifacts, on my system, but perhaps not on another's  as, everybody needs to experiment with their own installation, if this interests them...

Spark, the only thing I could see wrong with my doing this...is that my scenic reads are off a 10,000 rpm Velociraptor...but my library would be read off a 5,400 rpm Black HD.  That might introduce lag-read-inject into sim.  Dunno...

Sorry, could you clarify if the Orbx Global products are in the P3D root folder or an ORBX library folder?

5.3.0 is a 'smooth as a baby's behind' keeper!

Glad you gave it another shot 😁 Hurrah!

Mine have always been in the World/Scenery folder, where the files get sent to, if you have Orbx Central write to the P3D Root Folder.   I have never thought to put that product into the Library.  So, if you do...as I am reading this...and it doesn't overwrite the default files...you could start a clean installation...run P3D with totally default as I am now...and then install to the Orbx Library Orbx BASE and then run and see the changes and the FPS performance/smoothness whatever.  If that does indeed bork your better running of the sim under default world scenery, then you (as I take this) only have to uninstall it, and then the LINK will be ended, and your non-affected default P3D v5.3 scenery files will then provide the world 'view'.

Yeah Kevin...running great now, with default world P3D scenery on my particular system. Good and stable FPS, and even (wow) with All Roads at as high as 50 percent.  So, it was never the version itself...the coding, the changes, it was layering on my Orbx Global products on top of the sim.  For me...anyways...

I think you're on to something here. Did a spin around Charlotte and San Diego and the way the default scenery interacts with lighting, and shadows does give a more realistic feel. The performance bonus allows a more aggressive autogen and ground terrain setting. I think I'll go with this a while. Just have to get over the I paid for it so I have to use it mentality.🙂

You don't even have to uninstall anything, just unclick it in 'Addons' within sim.

However be-aware that by not allowing Global Base to run/load it does have a knock on effect on a lot of other ORBX products that depend on it.
