December 14, 20214 yr I have been pottering around Europe for the last couple of weeks in my little Piper and today it was time for my return to Britain and one of the longest legs of the trip. Shortly after departing Cologne/Bonn and destined for the famous White Cliffs and Biggin Hill I encountered the work of a drunkered. I say drunkered because a gallon of schnapps can be the only explanation for such a wreckless proposal. My German is not great but that looks like a mariage proposal to me. I'm sure the fellow had quite the hangover. I wonder what the story is here? Who are they asking and what are they doing in the sky? Do they have any idea that old nerds like me are flying over their house and talking about them on the internet? Forgive the picture quality, I took it with my phone rather than screen captured it. I'm not sure why. I think it's because I may be an I-D-I-O-T that is advancing in years. Anyway, should you wish to fly there yourself and ask whether Tuipi said yes or threw hay in his face you need to know that I found it on Airway Y868 between the waypoints NVO and MAPAD. Flying from NVO it will be just out of your left window. Anyone else found such a curiousity on their travels? December 15, 20214 yr I sure have. A number of written things on the ground. Some in Japan (Said HELLO) and in Northern africa there were inscriptions on the hillside put there by Islamic rebel groups (google tells me). Pretty cool flying around and seeing a semi accurate world below!
December 15, 20214 yr Yeah, I have seen this type of thing over the US Midwest. However, those get very very political and in more than a few areas. I was quite surprised really, but they are there. December 15, 20214 yr Some of the chalk drawings carved into the landscape in England are beautiful and in perfect detail in the sim. (The whole of GB actually, but mainly England) The most famous one is the 'Cerne Abbas Giant' - the picture would be NSFW probably. He carries a large club, and also another rather large object between his legs of similar shape! You can put this into google maps 50°48′49″N 2°28′29″W For anyone wondering, these things are ancient, not something new like crop circles. The records of the Cerne Abbas Man were first recorded in the 17th century. Like you say, it is amazing what you can find in MSFS, and it can spark a whole new interest. I am now looking for a book on these fascinating chalk figures. One guy has done POI's for them at flightsim.to https://flightsim.to/file/14395/uk-chalk-figure-land-sculpture-poi-pack The last picture shows the Cerne Abbas Man - I recon he was boasting a bit if it was a self sculpture! I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. (excuse the pun) Finding this sort of stuff adds a new dimension to this simming thing that we have never had before, doesn't it? I am one of your subscribers, apparently. I think I first found your channel when researching the Honeycomb yoke. You provided exactly the information I was looking for and in exacting detail. The stuff that actually matters regarding dead zones etc. Unlike just about everyone else on YouTube and I just wanted you to know that I appreciated it. Good work. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2

A tour of the chalk figures has indeed been on my list of things to fly over since I first saw this sim was in development. I feel such an adventure looming now😊 When they release the fix to my TrackIR😉 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
December 15, 20214 yr There is an addon ar flightsim.to that tells you where all the chalk figures are. Cerne Abbas is certainly a good one but there are a number of men and white horses that look very good in MSFS. I haven't tried them with the goigle addon mod, but that's something I will have to do. Most of my flying is done in the Southern UK so I won't have to go far out my way.
