I wasn't going to but I did purchase and install P3DV5.3, I can't even get it to load without a CTD, its a complete vanilla install, no addons at all, nothing, no modifications, no shader apps nothing, it will load to 100% and then it completely disappears, updated nvidia drivers to the latest, no logging of any kind in the event viewer, not able to load anything at all, I just don't understand when you purchase something that has or will give you grief, P3D4.5 runs perfectly with no issues at all, is there a problem running V5 alongside V4.5? uninstalled and reinstall and just the same, loading to 100% and CTD straight away. where the hell would you start to look for an issue, so frustrating.

G'day Ray, yep admin rights, as I posted, it will load up to 100% then bang gone, I've done a reinstall and still the same, complete vanilla nothing else installed, unable to even get the first load with default everything.

check that Checksum MD5 of the P3D you have downloaded is the same as the one indicated on the P3D download page. You can use any of the free Checksum MD5 programs downloadable from the net.

I also have a fresh P3D on a new PC and had related problems. In my case it was most probably cured by disabling the Hardware Accelerated Graphics Scheduler (HAGS) in Windows. Don't forget to delete the P3D config file to let the sim create a new one.

Maybe try deleting the contents of \users\yourname\appdata\local\temp (whatever your equivalent is).
 

The checksum option is worth trying. Maybe one bad file is responsible.

Do you have LatinVFR KFLL installed? Check the pinned subject in this forum

In your graphic settings in windows - It is a bit hidden so try Google if you cant find it.

I had exactly the same problem - default settings - I could load at the default airport but CTD everywhere else. Tried repair but had the same result. 

Uninstalled, formatted drive (not a system drive), reinstalled and it is now working perfectly.  I have absolutely no idea what caused the issue as Windows event viewer failed to record the CTDs.

 

 

 

@doublebubble, try earlier Nvidia drivers. Use DDU to uninstall the existing ones in Safe Mode.

It's always best to name driver version rather than just "the latest".

I'm still on 471.96 which work fine with P3Dv5.3HF1.

I have HAGS on and no CTDs.

What I thought in the beginning, if you can run 4.5 but not 5.3, it must be the hardware requierments of 5.3. What are your computer specs?

I had no issues with it on either but it’s worth a try. Hardware specs aren’t that different. The fact it won’t load a default aircraft at a default airport doesn’t suggest a hardware issue.
