Slightly noticeable was the relatively small dip during 2021 for those still running FS2002/2004 and X-Plane 11.50+ was down slightly at ~3-4%.

Not exactly if you look at separate sims.
The survey shows an... increase in the number of FS2002 users.
Go figure! 🤔

The other thing about the Navigraph survey that I don't understand is that more users from XP converted to MSFS as their primary flight simulator, than from P3D, in 2021:

Logically, I would have expected more P3D users to switch to MSFS as their primary flight simulator, than XP users.

Hey Rafal,

Yes whatever seems to be "traded off" in terms of FS2004 users lost , FS2002  gained. Go figure that one out.🙄

Well you can blame me for that I guess! 😉I am still flying P3D and have not migrated to MSFS yet because MSFS does not meet my needs right now.

The most compelling news I learned was not actually the result of the survey, but the fact on the navigraph website that they have 850.000 users,

This would mean about ~3% of their user base has participated in the survey?

I believe I've missed this information. Can you please give the page # in the survey or the URL to this info?!

Probably dyslexia, people clicking FS2002 but reading FS2020 ?

https://careers.navigraph.com/ on the careers page, very bottom. It was not in the survey.

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

That's the flightsim vagabonds who don't feel tightly connected to one simulator. Namely those who switched from P3D to XP when it became "in". This can be pretty much nailed to the point in time when ORBX "switched" from Prepar3D to X-Plane in 2018 (which they will never ever admit they did, of course).

That same people flocked to MSFS when it became "in", again in parallel with ORBX switching form XP to MSFS (which they again will never admit). I could give you a long list of current MSFS forum members belonging into that category, but I certainly won't.

Contrary, there are a group of long-time sworn XP-users and another one of long-time loyal Prepar3D users. Some of the names are sure known to the community as well.

Just an explanation for the observed fact of XP->MSFS over P3D->MSFS converts. Please do NOT take this as a judgement. The named flightsim vagabonds include a number of users I have high respect for.

Kind regards, Michael

Yeah, I guess this could be the reason.

In general, I would think P3D users are more likely to switch to MSFS, compared to XP users.  But I guess not in this Navigraph survey.

Certainly, and I am one of them and intend to evaluate the forthcoming sims as well.

However, I doubt there are a lot of people stuffing two or more sims in parallel with an extended number of addons.

I am also Michael.  My MSFS isn't near the level of addons as P3D.  But still a good amount.  Happy new year
