January 10, 20224 yr Good find! I will activate that menu again and give it a try! This is indeed a workable option unlike going to the option screens. 55 minutes ago, Noel said: Fortunately for the 787X HD mod you can use the World Map for flight planning and it works great. That's unfortunate re the FBW A320 in this regard. Well, I fly the FBW a lot and you CAN use the MSFS flight planner for it, in fact, the last weeks I always use that planner (to either import a Simbrief plan or to create a flight from scratch) so for me this ribbon option is great! I will also check out that alternative ribbon mod! EDIT That mod is an edit of official game files from a specific version of MSFS and you need to replace default files: don't like that at all so I will skip that. The ribbon tip is still great though! 😉 Edited January 10, 20224 yr by tup61

I'm inclined to agree, though you can certainly save the original first, plus the dev created a restore function. Yes, but the dev used files from SU5 and we are at a patched SU7 already so replacing those new files with those old ones may result in missing updates that may be contained in the files from SU6 and SU7... I like my sim as default as possible. 😉

Plus, since this is an area of the sim that does not seem to have ever changed it may be rather immune to troubles. I didn't know we had other spots to install addons. As I assume you read on the flightsim.to page for it, the locations are: Quote Steam Version: C:\Users\(UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\ Microsoft OneStore Version: C:\Users\(UserName)\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\ For the MS Store version of the sim, "Official" and "Community" are the 2 folders inside "Packages". "Official" is the one you usually don't touch as it is basically the core files of the sim, but in this case it's a core configuration setting you need to change in order for the taxi ribbon size to be altered. Don't worry, it's quite safe to do this particular alteration. In fact, sim updates often overwrite the file you change, so it's not exactly a permanent change anyway. The mod gets updated should a sim update stop it working. January 11, 20224 yr The ribbon toggle has been there since SU5. People are just noticing it now? Interesting. 4 hours ago, edpatino said: Is there another place where those need to be previously activated?. In the assistance menu. Edited January 11, 20224 yr by Tuskin38

I like my sim as default as possible. 😉 I forgot to restore the original file for the last three updates(SU6, SU7, SU7.2). Nothing earth shattering happened. In fact, nothing happened at all. Best guess is those updates did not change the specific file in question. My other best guess is that if an update did make a change to that file and you have the modified file installed, it would simply overwrite the modified file, in which case one would be back to the big blue arrows and the ugly square corral around your parking spot. I'd also hazard a guess that if that file gets modified by an update, the mod would no longer work, would be flagged as such on Flightsim.to, and that the author would then either let it die, or modify and upload a new file. As always, YMMV. January 11, 20224 yr There was a mod I used to use from flightsim.to where you had hotkeys to turn on and off outside view HUD, POI labels, and nametags too. It broke with one of the Asobo updates long ago. But for all I know it may work again now. It could remove POI labels but not the tall 'posts' under the labels. So it wasn't perfect. It also provided hotkeys for other stuff which I forget now. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. January 11, 20224 yr I tried this on a flight today, unfortunately it didn't work. While the landing bracket did show, the taxi ribbon did not. I have not been able to get it to work for quite a while now. No idea why.... Ken
January 11, 20224 yr Didn't work for me either. I was all ready to go and looking for taxi ribbons and this dude came up and gave me a push back. Duh. Roy i7-10700 CPU @2.90 GHz, 32 GB Ram, nVadia GTX1660ti, Samsung 1 TB SSD Drive
January 13, 20224 yr Works like a charm here! Great find! Very nice being able to turn it on and off while you are still moving in the sim! Very convenient! (Obviously it only works whenever ATC tells you how to taxi.)
January 14, 20224 yr FYI, I have solved this issue. Turns out I had ATC turned off (I believe this occurred while switching from the SU7 beta), and while I had the taxi ribbon assist selected in the options menu it does not work if ATC is not turned on as well. Hope this helps others who have been having problems with the taxi ribbon as well. Ken
