Well. If you guys think this plane sounds good, i bet u newer heard a twin otter or a pt6 engine in real life. Im not buying it.

Sounds good enough to me.

I think a lot depends on your sound card, settings and speakers (internal, external). The true fidelity and impact of the audio is like day and night with a good audio setup. The good sound setups will really showcase the audio experience. Just my 2 cents.

Startup sounds are no good.  I have never been impressed with the sounds of any Aerosoft aircraft. CRJ sounds are lacking as well (no gear sounds, wind, ground roll, etc, etc....).

I have the worst audio on my computer...just 2 lousy external speakers.  Probably something I should upgrade.  Do you have a recommendation of a system from Best Buy or similar Canadian store ?

The sudden change in prop rpm when takeoff is the one thing that bothers me the most. Allthough i agree with you with the startup\shutdown sounds.

Yes, I realize you do and you can tell the really good sound quality. Others that think the sound is fine may not have the level of your setup and detect the quality that you are expecting.

The one thing that amazes me, is that nobody else have something to say about the sudden change in prop rpm when taking off in the video. Its like 2 sounds are just fading in to each other. 1 sound is idle and the other is full rpm. You dont need a great audio setup to notice that.

Edited by Cyrex1984

I think the preamble in the video is the most interesting bit and probably a constant dilemma for any developer: do you design sounds / handling for what people THINK it should be, or what it actually is in real life.

For example, 99% of all users have more experience as passengers on a plane than as a pilot (present company excluded of course) - so they aren't wearing headsets. They are also closer to the engines - and often behind the engines rather than in front of them. They're also much closer to things like flaps, fuel pumps, the APU (on jets), cargo doors, etc... Wind noise is also far less pronounced when your window is parallel to the flow of air rather than perpendicular to it like it is in the cockpit.

Despite being aware of all of this, I still personally turn up the engine noise to an unrealistic level in the FBW A320, for example, simply because it matches my expectation better, even though my expectation is wrong.

I appreciate devs who are bold enough to go for full realism, knowing that a healthy percentage of their customers will perceive it as less realistic.

Okay gotcha on that!

Has the video been taken down?  Or is the problem at my end?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Looks like it was taken down. Taken in isolation a lot of the sounds seemed good to me but the overall balance seemed a little off and there was a bit of looping that was a bit too discernible. Nothing that a bit more time in the oven couldn't fix I'd say.
