Guys VR is the future for FS. I can't go back to 2D

Have a question I've been wanting to ask.  I have one eye that's 20-20 vision ... and the other, not so good.  Not really correctable and and see mostly blurry.

So, is VR possible with just one eye?

I am myopic, and flying in VR is same for me as when I don't wear contacts.

It's a none issue if you own one.  I thought the same thing but it's truly not a problem.

It most definitely  is an issue. People go on about muscle memory in the VR forums and scene. Sure, to an extent it helps, however if you have multiple peripherals setup, it’s really just quite annoying fumbling around. If you only use a yoke, then great, but start adding more devices and you’re literally operating them blind.

I'd like to try it. I used the PS4 VR and it was interesting but i would like to see what it's like in MSFS. Realistically I may wait another 5 years until they become lighter, less bulky and similar to a monitor quality.

I had the opposite experience. VR, with a. 3090 and a HP G2. Really, after the initial wow was out the way, it was all really rather cumbersome. Going back to 2D on a large screen with trackIR was actually quite refreshing, even more so the visual clarity InHD 4K blew VR away.
Also, using peripherals with VR is just so awkward, coupled with the scuba diver effect, and that was enough for me to sell G2.
To each their own.

Agreed, you can't please everyone.  As I fly for real VR is a must after I got it setup correctly (visuals, smoothness, etc).   Just like VCR's and Blu-ray, it will only get better with time.

I don't use all the external gadgetry, so I will agree that unless you can operate those without having to tip up your headset then it would not yet be for you.

But i can't enjoy pancake flying even with my multiple screens on ultra compared to my g2. Some are immersed with buttons, I am immersed with looking around and taking in the world. It is the freedom of flight that I am looking for.

I always thought that was you in your avatar pic but I guess it’s your son? Or you a few years ago?

My son just turned 18 and yes that's me from a few years ago but I look the same (at least I think so🤪).

Just did a race, amazing.  You have to move that racing HUD out the way but besides that I wouldn't race without the Reverb in the future.

It's only a data cable.  Does nothing for it's connecting into the FS and the video card.

You can do full video via the USB cable just like HDMI (known as "Oculus Link"), but you need to make sure you are using a USB 3.2 port and similarly rated cable to ensure you have enough bandwidth to handle the video stream.

To your point, it's not something you need to worry about with the higher end sets like your G2 that support direct DisplayPort or HDMI connections.

VR at this point isn't plug and play no matter what solution you choose.  It takes time to set it up correctly and research the right settings for your hardware.  You're going to frustrate yourself like a few are describing here if you think you can just plug it in and go.  I had to watch a few different Youtube videos before I understood how to find the right settings that worked for me.  Everyone's setup is different but once you get it it's amazing.

My point is the cable does nothing for connection into FS.  It's all in the Oculus runtime app.

I tried it twice, and about 15 minutes was all I could tolerate wearing that headgear.

A significant number of people also get motion sick after a few minutes - so it's definitely not for everyone - and something to be aware of before investing in higher-end VR gear. I wish there was an easier way for people to "test drive" the MSFS VR experience. A decent return policy is probably something to consider when making a purchase, just in case it isn't for you.

First VR flight 6 months ago on Quest 2; never looked back; never done a 2d flight since.   I don't have to imagine all the bits and pieces and gives a true sense of the size of various aircraft.  Using peripherals is a challenge, but worth it for me.  Very happy with it.
