Might want to avoid the new GForce Experience.

I only install the GPU driver - always deselect Audio, Experience and PhysX...

I have GE Force Exp. installed for the game filters and Shadowplay which is an excellent video recording app. I don’t see any ill effect on my weak computer valiantly moving pixels at 30 FPS in MSFS. So it ain’t bloatware for me.

Same here. Use it for capture screen shots and videos. Plain simple.

Welcome to 2022, where such apps are used by millions of people without any performance degradation. Just like Steam, Epic Games Store, Discord and other things you don't seem to gasp after exiting your cave 😄

Even if it uses one core exclusively - I have 11 left for MSFS 🙂

I stay away from Bloatware.

Yeah I think it is generally a good idea to avoid it.  You can pick to install just the drivers in an option when you reinstall.  It will go in and change the graphic settings in your games without you knowing it.  My clouds kept changing to the really low rez ones when this first came out, and I figured it was the sim, but it was Experience trying to "optimize" my game.

I'd rather just set my own settings and leave them.

You can turn off optimisation of games.

Never installed GE Force Experience and never will. Bloatware that uses system resources including memory and CPU cycles to run. When it comes to MSFS specifically, I prefer a fast PC to a fat PC.😉

I run MSFS at a smooth 40fps with render dcale at 120.  I install GEForce Experience and I still have a smooth 40fps at a render scale if 120 plus I get to use the filters and video/picture utilities.

Don't know what the fuss is about.

Don't know what the fuss is about.

The fuss is when a novice PC user who thinks hes installing the driver installs experience (which is bundled in the install routine) and gets his game settings changed by said program and has no clue that it was caused by the supplemental program until someone troubleshoots the issue and duly informs them. This has occured multiple times when the sim was released. I don't care if its 2022 or 2030. I operate on knowing exactly what the programs do on my system and they must have a purpose and the system resources used must be commensurate.

Got nothing against the program in terms of its other functions but for me im willing to sit down and do the research to know exactly which setting does what and how it affects the appearance and performance of my games. I don't want or need an additional program taking up space/memory/cpu cycles doing it for me.

Same applies for other programs like Armory crate. All of what it does can be done in the bios or manually. I build a few custom PC's for friends and family and this is software that just simply does not make the list for me.

Someone mentioned that its 2022 and these things are the norm now.. I'm glad not everyone falls into the comfort of installing convenience apps and sincerely hope that they know full well what they are installing.

Just my personal opinion on the issue that i decide to share.  No offence to anyone who feels like this is essential to them.

When i had my RTX 2080 Super i made 100% sure not to install it to avoid all issues. I still dont recommend installing it UNLESS  you intend to use its filters. Driver only install to remove all doubt as to who is really in control of game display settings because some will not notice that this "experience" can change your settings on its own if you don't check or uncheck a box.

The user is in control, unless they can't be bothered to read instructions.

So, exactly how much memory/cpu cycles would having GeForce Experience take up on your system? As you are someone who has done the research to measure this, I am curious to know.

True.
But it’s more fun to create a thread at AVSIM to cry about a virtually non-existing problem. 🙂

I'm sure you can install and check for yourself.. Not sure if you haven't realized I've since upgraded graphics card and and am no longer using a nvidia gpu. You and a few other replies ive seen have also missed the fundamental reason i do not recommend using the software (which is .. again .. to the uninitiated end user the program installs by default and optimizes by default)  I'm also expressing my opinion without trying to be cheeky or argumentative so I'm going to not respond going further.

I’ve used GeForce Experience for years as it’s a really easy and simple way to produce ingame footage that can be easily uploaded to YouTube.

It’s never optimised or installed anything “by default” on my system.

Not sure what this thread is about......

Exactly.  I consider myself an expert, and it took me a long time to figure out that this was actually happening.  At launch, we all know 2020 wasn't exactly stable, so I thought it was bug in the sim.

I would say it was a couple of weeks where I thought it was "normal" for the sim graphic settings to change.  I honestly don't remember how I figured it out, may have been someone here pointing it out.  I might have even seen it in a thread.

The fact that I can easily turn it off didn't help me, since I didn't know it was a thing.  Wasted a good couple of hours of my time for sure.
