GTN 750 choices are heating up!

Featured Replies

We have seen TDS announcing plans for Justflight Arrow VC integration, but in the meantime, PMS50 has released a "WTT" mode for the Carenado Seminole/C337/M20.

I just flew a flawless RNAV LPV approach into KTPA via PIE, complete with a teardrop hold at FITPA, exactly like the WT G1000 NXi.

Only thing missing is the glideslope indicator on the HSI...  Not clear if this is Asobo's or Carenado's or both to fix..

We are getting close 🙂

It takes a little custom coding, but the TDS GTNXi will drive the HSI glidepath indicator. We have this working in the in-house Alpha version of the Flysimware C414. So I don't think the PMS HSI glidepath issue is necessarily an Asobo issue to fix.

Just Flight have have been driving the GS indicator on the HSI in RNAV since the initial release of their Arrow and I believe other devs have mastered it as well so it's clearly possible, but I suspect there's no default SDK code that does it so devs like Carenado haven't implemented it.

For a moment, I couldn't even tell whether that picture was a real life picture, or if it was MSFS.  Of course, because this is the MSFS forum, I assumed it was a picture of MSFS.  But for a moment, I actually considered this to be a real life picture.  Anyways, good to see the systems for MSFS is ramping up like the WT G1000 NX and GTN 750!

i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

A great gauge for an otherwise steam panel.

Keeps it simple for me.

I'm not going to mess with the Twotter until it gets one.

Unfortunately Aerosoft won't be including either GTN - they wouldn't do it for P3D and they won't do it for MSFS.  Well, maybe if enough people pressure them

Amazing! Will this be true for the pms version too?

PMS50 has said that Asobo is working on making the GSI needle "accessable", but in the interim, they are going to provide an optional GSI along the right side of the GTN map.. good approach IMHO!

Don't know, I don't have experience with the PMS GTN, but I think it would require PMS provide the necessary "coding" hooks.

Having now tried both versions, I must say that PMS50 has done a nice job of implementing a simulated GTN within the restrictions of the MSFS/WT flightplan management system.  You can definitely have a good flight, using this gauge.

However, if you have used the F1 or RXP GTN gauges in P3D, the TDS version brings back "an old friend"..

Entering a flight plan is the way we have always done it, one waypoint at a time... not  Origin - Destination - Enroute waypoints as in MSFS.  All the screens work, and there are no instances of "what is it doing now?"

Lastly, the graphics are better and the the gauge is much more responsive.  Rubberbanding flightplans on the map works again, etc.

Now, please note: the PMS gauge uses the MSFS navdata, and the TDS gauge uses Garmin navdata... and that is not a small thing..  Waypoints may be missing in the Garmin navdata and you have to work around that... So no simple:  "This is the one to get"..

It would seem if PMS made available to developers whatever variable(s) they are going to use to drive their GTN map GSI, then developers could use that to drive the HSI glide path indicator as well.

I believe you are correct, but not all developers (think Carenado) have been responsive to these kinds of requests in the past...

Will be interesting to watch which developers provide proper integration for each of these GTNs.. 🙂

Hi Bert G'day

slight change to the thread but opportunity is to good

Every time I download the latest version - when copying the file to Community - so many "problems" pop up with long

names etc - and if I ignore them - I assume I am missing something  in the install - and I never get it to work properly

How does you and everyone else cover this problem ??
