March 4, 20224 yr For me the C337 beats them all to be honest. I haven't flown any other Carenado since getting it.

I still fly with FSX at times, have both the Mooney and 337 in both sims, and I can tell little difference in depth or quality. Yes, the resolution is better in MSFS, but the aircraft have pretty much the same level of depth. And, in FSX I removed all but a couple of liveries I actually use so perhaps my memory is thin, but are they not just the same liveries as well? I have the DC6 and the Kodiak, and i have as much fun flying the Mooney and Seminole. They are all different and all good in my opinion.

Maybe you should check your sound settings. Okay I think I know where the Carenado engine sound bug comes from (have it on the mooney, seneca, c170b). If you start directly on the runway (so engine already running when loading), the sound will be faulty (different engine sound). If you load from parking (so cold and dark), it will be fine. Can you confirm that for me? Thanks. Edited March 25, 20224 yr by Johnny Wyatt
March 25, 20224 yr Generally speaking, Carenado aircraft have their place. The price and substance and ease of use/consumability is more like a Big Mac Meal versus the more expensive and tasty sit down Fancy Restaurant Meal which is the DC6 from PMDG or even a JF PA28. But both have their place. Some people actually just want a cheap easy to fly addon that looks good to fly occasionally. other people are prepared to pay more for something more substantial. That said, I have a few Carenado aircraft: I have the YMF5, a total rort to fly, great fun. but a bit of a monster to take-off and land and it had a lot of issues on first release I flew the Carenado Mooney quite a bit on longer flights in the early days, (now use the JF Turbo Arrow or Kodiak for that role) and it was acceptable for the money and more than earnt its keep with the hours I put in flying it I picked up the Carenado c170 on special. and it was not too bad. but overall I preferred the c140 from Aeroplane heaven I have the Staggerwing and it is actually pretty impressive, yes it is a bit like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh and wants to bounce everywhere on landing, but actually overall it is really good. If the Staggerwing is anything to go by Carenado are definitely improving as time goes on. If they want to get rid of their "cheap quick and easy " rep they just need to update a few of their original aircraft to the new standards. That said, the new Boeing 247D from wing 42 due for release on 2nd April looks like setting a new standard for depth of simulation at a cheaper than Carenado price. March 25, 20224 yr I was a part of the "Never Carenado Again" crowd for quite some time. Then along came MSFS and I watched a few reviews of the Seneca. It looked promising for the price of 30 bucks but I waited a while. I already had a bunch of other payware and freeware planes. I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised by them. I feel like they've stepped it up a notch in terms of performance and physics. I love this as much as the Kodia, DC6 and JF Arrow(s) to be honest. Those have more depth but the Seneca has it's place. A lot more than that EMB 110 that's not been dusted off in months. This is actually enjoyable to fly. I have it as my go-to testing aircraft for new scenery, mods or multiplayer stuff. 7800+4090+64ram Just Flight RJ, 146 and F28, Piper Arrows ---A2A Aerostar and Comanche---Black Square Starship, Duke(s), TBM, Bonanza/BaronV2, KingAir---FSReborn FSR500---COWS Da42---FX P180, HJet & VJet---FlySimWare Chancellor and LearJet---FlightSimStudio EMB175 &P2006T---Fenix 320---PMDG DC6, 737(700+900), 777---C22J---Milviz Cessna 310 & Porter---SimWorksStudios Kodiak, PC12, Zenith & RV14---BigRadials Goose---IndiaFoxEcho MB3339+F35.

So while I've resisted, its really only because of that. If I didn't have a hangar full of planes to test and paint and was "bored" with my current fleet...I'm sure I woulda' talked myself into the 337 by now. 😉 That Chancellor is looking mighty tempting though, ROFL. The Chancellor is looking tempting and I already bought even though I told myself that I wouldn't. The Seneca still has my heart though. Fun to fly. Mostly because its easy. When I have time not working in healthcare, a toddler, 2 cats, a 100lb german shephard and a dozen other hobbies....then I fly something more complicated like the DC6 or FMS. I love putting raw information in the FMS like this.
