I think the simpliest answer is that ASOBO has a tendency to use placeholders in the absence of polished features.

The devs have mentioned, quite a few times, that they are working on an overhaul to ATC and Live Traffic. They want actual aircraft models and real world liveries, and an ATC system that is closer to real life. The problem is, rather than just completely omit traffic and ATC during this period where it's not yet feature complete, they've left us this rubbish placeholder version.

As a result, they've left themselves open to years of complaints / community ire when they should have gone the X-Plane route and just not had traffic / ATC to begin with, until they had something amazing to show.

Hey guys, question for you all about the AIG TC:

I just built a new PC using Windows 11. I decided to try AIG again, but the final step in AIG installation is to make a shortcut of the Traffic Controller exe, right click -> Properties -> Shortcuts -> Target:, and then put -MSFS2020 at the end of the tag, but my new PC doesn't have a "SHORTCUTS" page in properties, though. Any idea how I can get TC to inject traffic without that last step?

Right click the "AIGTech - Traffic Controller.exe" file and select "Create Shortcut" (not "Properties"). Once you have the shortcut, drag it to your desktop so you can launch it from there.

If you don't have any other sims installed that should be enough, it should recognize you as having MSFS. If not, then right click on the shortcut itself and select properties. Then it should have a shortcut tab. Under that tab in the Target: space add "-MSFS2020" to the end so that it would read "(file path)..........\AIGTech - Traffic Controller.exe" -MSFS2020.

Exactly as I have done but I'm receiving errors, at least according to the "Windows Event Viewer"  Already posted to Kaiii3 at AIG.

I have been struggling pathetically with AIG, maybe someone kind enough will throw me a bone.

Had it installed and uninstalled a couple of times prior to viewing some of those helpful YT vids. Gave it another go again last night, following the above-mentioned vid. All went well and installed this time. As a first step I installed 20 of the major airlines flying in & out of home-base, ie. VHHH.

Upon launching the sim and injecting traffic, VHHH gets nicely populated with actual types and liveries, but that is about it ! All these planes aren't busy, at all... They just stand there at the gates, looking good. SAme in the skies above and beyond, emptiness, besides myself. 

On a side note, I selected AI OffIine under the sim settings, expecting to "get" pre-Covid traffic from AIG.  Basically, I do not need real traffic at this time since VHHH has been devastated by the pandemic and the local gov zero-covid policies 😕

What am I doing wrong exactly?

Don't use "AI Offline". And set ground aicraft to 0. That's why you see liveries from AIG that don't move. That has nothing to do with the AIGTC. By the way the AIG traffic is more than enough and mostly uses pre-covid or at least summer flightplans that will give you around 200 planes at and around VHHH if you downloaded all airlines.

So anyway do what I said and then start a flight at VHHH. But you have to start the AIGTC only when you are inside the MSFS main menu; if you start it earlier it will not connect. So: 1) Start MSFS, 2) when in Main Menu start AIGTC, 3) start flight in MSFS, 4) when flight loaded click "inject traffic" in the AIGTC
If this still doesn't work I suppose the folder paths are not correctly set. You can make a screenshot and I'll have a look.

This time I had planned a short flight from LFML~LFPG and had installed Air France / British Airways / Lufthansa / KLM / Easyjet plans. To my surprise a China Eastern airliner was parked a couple of gates away from me at LFPG (Marseille, Southern France), and that was it !!!

I must have fumbled hard somewhere in the process, and simply can't work it out. Irritating since I generally like to consider myself not too thick :-/

Will give this bad boy another try after sorting out my divorce for skipping dinner and fiddling with FS2020 instead.

Don't feel bad. I installed AIG last month on my old PC and when I hit inject, planes spawned everywhere. Doing the exact same steps on my new PC, and when I hit inject, nothing.

Might just need to delete it all and start over. It's a BETA after all. You may have done everything right and just got unlucky, like I did.

Now I am still unsure what to set the Flight Conditions in the sim itself. AI Traffic off? And ON in the AIGTC program?

AI Traffic OFF in MSFS. Then (after your flight loaded) click on "inject traffic" in the AIGTC.

So i finally found a decent installation video for this program and decided to really sit down and give it a try. I had misgivings because a am EXREMELY WARY of programs that modify core files. So my ears perked up when the discussion about the program asking to rename traffic.bgl came up and not getting a clear answer on the concern plus the multistep install process  made me decide to wait a few months. I also wanted to make sure this was something i can switch off at will by using addon linker and uninstall cleanly if i so choose.

 

A) So i found that the program still works without renaming traffic.bgl (Just make sure you have the in game online AI turned off)

B) You can use Addon Linker provided it is a more recent version of Addon Linker (My earlier version of addon linker initially did not want to link the OCI folder... downloaded the latest version and it worked no issue)

C) From what i can see if i wanted to uninstall this thing there are Three folders to manually delete 

1  The AIG OCI folder from wherever you have your community folder

2 The Folder that runs the Software that downloads the flight plans, models  and liveries

3 The Folder that runs the Traffic software 

Are there any other hidden folders in lets say within the C:\Users folder that i need to be aware of ?

In any case after 2 days of careful installation it works pretty well. Overall satisfied.
