Starting AIG Traffic Controller

Featured Replies

I’m at a loss here. When AIG is working it’s quite excellent. However: the traffic controller is for me an unstable mess, CTD’ing ALL the time. Got it set to run as admin of course, and for some reason also Win8 compatibility mode (some suggestion here on AVSIM IIRC).

It’s strange, as the sim is very stable at the moment, even with multiple addons. Just don’t get the frequent CTD’s. That is - the traffic controller CTD, not the sim itself.

When this happens I’m in the habit of turning MSFS live traffic on. Still get the AIG models and liveries… just want to get the traffic controller working properly 😵

What you're experiencing is a SimConnect problem that requires a direct fix from ASOBO. AIG can't do anything from their end to stop the AIG TC from crashing. Hopefully the fix comes this year. A solution I didn't see you mention is to roll the traffic back to 50-75% and see if that solves how often you encounter crashes.

If that doesn't work, you might have to consider forgoing the TC all-together and using the default ASOBO Live Traffic by turning it to ON and leaving your other settings the same. A final solution, if Live Traffic is sparse and plagued with incorrect liveries, is to download PSXT and buy a subscription to RealTraffic, which, when coupled with AIG liveries and models, will give you the most accurate traffic experience in MSFS.

I for one refuse to pay a subscription for something ASOBO should have gotten right out of the gate, so I just deal with the constant TC crashes. (At 75% it hasn't crashed in 2 flights, but I might have jinxed myself.)

Good luck mate.

Thanks for the input @WestAir. Seems the issue is (perhaps) not due to my setup then. Got it set to 60%, never tried anything above that.

I could just put the AIG TC on hold for the moment, waiting for a fix. Still, every flight I end up booting it up, traffic then injects properly. After xx minutes it’s gone.

What version does it say it is?

I want AIGs flightplans

AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC TYPE = OFF

AIRPORT VEHICLE DENSITY = whatever you like

GROUND AIRCRAFT DENSITY = 0

WORKER DESNISTY = whatever you like

USE GENERIC PLANE MODELS (AI) = OFF

I want only Live Traffic (DO NOT start AIGTC)

AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC TYPE = REAL-TIME ONLINE

AIRPORT VEHICLE DENSITY = whatever you like

GROUND AIRCRAFT DENSITY = 0

WORKER DESNISTY = whatever you like

USE GENERIC PLANE MODELS (AI) = OFF

Thank you Sir. Clear instructions!

I went for this option. 1 month RealTraffic subscription USD $9.99. So far so good. Setup wasn't that much of a hassle.

How is the map working for you? Mine is no longer working properly. I'm wondering if a server controls the map. It was working great until today.

Now $19.99/mo. 6 months later.

You're looking at the Professional Edition license

The Standard Edition is still $9.99

@Kaiii3 Hey Kai, since the biggest unresolved issue with MSFS is the TC crashing, has the team considered introducing another executable that will check the system tray, in 30 second intervals, for the TC and automatically restart it if it's not running?

This way I won't have to babysit the TC; If it crashes the TC-Checker will bring it back in less than 30 seconds.

Hi,

I just came across AIG and Despite having read various threads I'm still confused about the results.

  • I downloaded all flightplans available.
  • Chose "real-time online" option
  • Set Ground Aircraft density to 0
  • Set "use generic aircraft models" to off.

Still I'm seeing a good amount of aircraft being generic ones as well as a lot of airlines which are not supposed to be at my airport.

Am I (still) missing something?

Would the offline option together with AIG traffic controller give me better results?

Thanks

Yes you are. Here is the mistake you make:

  • Chose "real-time online" option

Traffic needs to be set to off.

Sorry if I was not clear:

I tried the below option first

I want only Live Traffic (DO NOT start AIGTC)

AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC TYPE = REAL-TIME ONLINE

AIRPORT VEHICLE DENSITY = whatever you like

GROUND AIRCRAFT DENSITY = 0

WORKER DESNISTY = whatever you like

USE GENERIC PLANE MODELS (AI) = OFF

So That's the settings I chose with the mentioned results.

Meanwhile tried to go with traffic= off, hence started Traffic controler and injected traffic. Better result on the ground but inbound traffic just flies somewhere and does not land. Also no takeoffs (not sure if I read this somewhere to be the issue with injected traffic?)

Option 1
If you set real time online traffic ON in the sim, you do not need to start the TC.  This means the aircraft you see are injected by Asobo but will use the AIG models, if it matches.  Problem is the data injected by Asobo is terrible and often this means you will see pointy nosed generic aircraft alongside real world liveries.

Option 2
If you turn off real time traffic in the sim, but use TC to inject this problem goes away BUT the flight plans the AI use is not really realistic at all.

Option 3
The best option for AI traffic (which I'm currently using) is to download PSXT + Real Traffic and use AIG for model matches however it costs roughly 10 quid a month for the privilege.  What would I pay that you ask?  Well this uses real world flight data (in realtime) to inject into the sim and completely bypasses all the bugs in the current AI.  So every aircraft flies correct sids/stars etc.  Its great for some virtual plane spotting alongside FlightRadar 24.

If you don't want to spend cash go with option 1 or 2.
