Latin VFR's "Global Vehicle Traffic" Is A No-Brainer

Featured Replies

Very pleased with this purchase. It's around $10, and you get much better car models. No impact on performance.

It's been updated to version 1.01.

Changelog:

Increased diversity in all regions
In Europe increased the amount of compact vehicles, reducing the amount of trucks and lorries
In the other regions added more regular vehicles and thus reducing the amount of trucks
Removed some vehicles from Europe that weren't normal there
Other small fixes

Note: this addon does not change the ai behavior of road traffic.

Do they drive at reasonable speeds or is every vehicle a Lotus Elise like the default AI?

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I get the impression that if they halved the speed of the traffic it would look more realistic.
There was a way of doing this in FSX, but it was a bit involved (decompiling a CAB file if I remember), but it worked well, so hopefully someone can find a way with MSFS.

I won't bother with vehicle addons until this is addressed, as I have them turned off now due to their unrealistic behaviour.  The way they dart about adds nothing to the simulation for me.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

If only they would take a look at XP11 car traffic. It is much better, and at night it’s stunning.

Hi,

I have to agree: while not changing the stock AI car behaviour of MSFS, which indeed needs a major overhaul, the add-on has one big advantage in my point of view. The stock car models were kind of "ghostly" for me when moving, looking kind of blurry. With the LatinVFR models, this is gone and you see the road traffic clearer and not "ghostly", which adds a bit to the immersion in my opinion, also given the small price.

Greetings

But do they have head and tail lights for nighttime?

Noel

Has someone compared FPS to default vehicles in the same scenario? Should be pretty easy to test. On Contrail there are reviews that say they lost some FPS with it.

There's a small screenshot on their site that shows the traffic at night and they appear to have headlights at least.  I forget, does default traffic have headlights?  It's been ages since I've done a night flight.  Will have to test this next time I hop in.

Every vehicle would beat a Formula 1 car still.  Much better looking than default.

Although vehicle behaviour needs work, it add greatly to realism.  At an unfamiliar airfield a turn may described at a road that can't be seen due to trees.  It is great when you spot a vehicle moving through the trees so showing the roads location.
