You certainly can use any words in any order you'd like for anything, but probably shouldn't be surprised or offended when people point out they're incorrect... Meteorologically correct, the clouds shown are altocumulus clouds. Clouds are classified according to their height above the earth's surface into low, medium and high clouds. High clouds are given the prefix "cirrus" in their name, medium ones get the prefix "alto". Within these groups, clouds are given designations according to their appearance (and not according to their nature or formation mechanism). The clouds shown here appear to be at intermediate altitudes and are therefore given the prefix 'alto'. Their shape most closely resembles thin cumulus clouds. Hence, these clouds are called altocumulus. Altocumulus clouds are therefore not cumulus clouds, although they have this as part of their name, because cumulus clouds are defined as clouds with height development (as you pointed out entirely correctly). A tendency to height development can by no means be recognized here. They are therefore not cumulus clouds, as far as their formation mechanism is concerned. As a result, the clouds shown here represent the appearance of altocumulus clouds in an excellent way.

Best to try to ignore it - or if it ruins immersion (which it does) - turn it off. My bet is that a 3rd party dev like JustFlight or similar will release an AI traffic package before Asobo updates their current stuff. Not possible, a lot of AI variables you could modify in FSX/P3D are hard coded in MSFS. We are dependent on Asobo for any AI changes. Kai over at AIG has been trying. My bet is that a 3rd party dev like JustFlight or similar will release an AI traffic package before Asobo updates their current stuff. I use Real-Time Online w/ Simple Traffic. Most of the time it is pretty good as long as the airport isn't super busy like some are during peak times of the day. One of my AH2 bases is at EDDF and that can be a nightmare of too busy, but often it's quite good. I'm hoping Asobo adds a filter to reduce actual RT Online Traffic somehow--like exclude every other plane taking off and/or landing to be able to thin total traffic down or something along those lines. I'm confused as to why you'd see these as "most closely resembling thin cumulus" though, when you then go on to agree that they aren't cumulus because they're missing the only thing that could make them cumulus? To me, the transparent appearance clearly says ice crystals which means cirrus (which the altitude supports), and the wavy pattern says cirrostratus undullatus. But my simming takes two main forms: fun VFR flying, either light GA or bush flying; and vatsim IFR stuff. So I routinely see normal bush flying weather from clear skies to fair weather cu to low stratus layers in valleys to showery weather on the ridges... and then when IFR, I see some good stuff since I always look for the region with the messiest conditions around. Multiple layers with mixed precip, low overcast etc. Were you looking for a certain type? Andrew Crowley

REX is great at making the GUI look incredible but flops with meaningful improvements--this is just my take over many years of buying their products. Yup I remember going through all of those cloud types in the GUI thinking wow so many to choose from!! Then launching a flight and just noticing the same clouds. Horsepower sells cars.... GUIs sell software...🤣😂 Edited April 21, 20224 yr by blueshark747 Asus Maximus X Hero Z370/ Windows 10 MSI Gaming X 1080Ti (2100 mhz OC Watercooled) 8700k (4.7ghz OC Watercooled) 32GB DDR4 3000 Ram 500GB SAMSUNG 860 EVO SERIES SSD M.2
