May 10, 20224 yr Hi, like in topic - 737 pmdg in VR is brillant... no words need it... textures, graphics combined with great sound = immersion 100% to be there inside... Who never tried VR - just give it try... you will be truely shocked... : ) brds
May 11, 20224 yr It really is! Their graphic artist(s) have done a professional job creating an accurate VC (along with updated textures and sounds) and that carries over into VR nicely.
May 11, 20224 yr Hmmmm - I have always wanted to try VR to see what the hype is about...but i cant seem to get past not being able to see my controllers or keyboard etc... is that a major drawback or something you just get used to? At present i use TrackIR and had no issues with that.... just a bit nervous to outlay big dosh if it doesn't work well.... thought? i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug

Everything on the controllers are right there in front of you. Just align it with the yoke in VR and reach out and grab it and there it is. Keyboard is another matter. It's best to map things to big keys like Enter, Alt, Ctrl, numpad, Space etc., that can be found easily without looking. And sometimes, you just have to lift the headset up for a second. But mostly you don't need the keyboard at all. Just point and click with the mouse. As to the OP, yes, it is beautiful. Like being there, truely and in such a pretty platform like MSFS it's fantastic. The flightsim I always wanted since I started as a kid in the 80s is here. Edited May 11, 20224 yr by andreh

I fly the FBW a lot and only need keyboard once during the flight when I need to hit Enter key for toolbar pushback pre plan confirm. Everything else is there in the virtual cockpit and I can manipulate controls with either a mouse or hand controller. I have a hardware joystick, throttle and rudder pedals and try to keep them in the same position in relation to my chair so I have built decent muscle memory when I need to grab them. Also helps if you can align the hw controllers with the virtual cockpit.

At present i use TrackIR and had no issues with that.... I was the same way. Ended up getting a Tobii because I didn't want to have to wear a head piece...now, there's no going back. You'll be so immersed that you won't realize you can't "see" outside of the headset. It's truly a wonderful experience. The sense of scale is immense. Going into a wing view on the A320 or 737 is mind blowing. It takes a bit of setup (not hard, just a bit tedious to get things the way you want them), but aside from that, it's truly a wonderful experience. May 11, 20224 yr I'll give VR a try again when the -800 comes out. I still have my Quest 2 gathering dust. Running i5-9600K @ 4.8ghz - 32GB DDR4 3200mhz - GTX 3070.
May 11, 20224 yr Can we start another thread about the PMDG 737. We only have 9 now.....one more will make it an even 10 lol. Edited May 11, 20224 yr by Brownshortz
May 11, 20224 yr Thanks guys for the feedback... i too fly the A320 mostly and have the full set of controllers...and i can see the logic of leaving them in one spot, pretty much know off hand without looking even now where things are on the throttle etc.... it does sound very inviting and im all for immersion! The preferred VR headset is what - as Ive not looked too hard into it as yet... Currently flying in 1440p ..will there be a substantial degradation in visuals or does the actual immersion nullify this? Much appreciate your advice guys! i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug

Unless you have something like Varjo Aero the visuals will take a hit. To me the added immersion more than offsets this but this is of course subjective to the user. With OpenXR toolkit you have a lot of options to customize the visuals while taking the performance into the account.

Ah i see.... i guess there has to be a compromise... i just asked the good wife and realized that she bought an Oculus Quest 2 for the PlayStation 5 they use... is this unit suitable for MSFS or is a whole nother beast needed? Hopefully yes - will save a whole lot of dosh! i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug

Definitely worth giving it a shot I would say.
