June 1, 20224 yr Before you question my sanity, let me explain to you 😊 This UAL 747SP has carried me multiple times in comfort across the Pacific, in both directions, with a stop-over in either Narita or Seoul. So, although she is not the prettiest 747, she has a special place in my heart.   How to get this bird into MSFS? It’s a bit tricky, because the only SP I know, is the old FS9 Posky model. This meant that I had to convert her first to FSX, before I could port her over to MSFS. Of course, I couldn’t use her panel, so I had to use the one of the default MSFS 747. That’s the downside.             Thanks for viewing Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

June 1, 20224 yr I'm always going to upvote Canadian content but a 747 from Kelowna to Vancouver is a kinda like taking an 18-wheeler to the corner store to bring home a bag of milk isn't it?
June 1, 20224 yr Author Many thanks for your kind comments 1 hour ago, Malaromane said: I'm always going to upvote Canadian content but a 747 from Kelowna to Vancouver is a kinda like taking an 18-wheeler to the corner store to bring home a bag of milk isn't it? I fully agree with you, but on occasion, economics can speak for the 18-wheeler, if it is fully loaded with bags of milk. Case in point: Lufthansa is using presently a 747-800 to ferry passengers from Frankfurt to Mallorca, Spain. This has never been done before on such a short route. Why? The demand is so overwhelming that this plane is constantly fully booked (ok, maybe not in First Class). So, coming back to my 747SP flight, let's assume that is was fully booked too 😂 Edited June 1, 20224 yr by bernd1151 Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

June 6, 20223 yr Great shots of an iconic bird!  My 1st and only encounter with an SP was at JFK in the 70s when a tug was pulling one to the gates. KJFK in the 70s, Being the Mecca of 747 spotting (esp PamAm), I had seen many 747s but still marveled at their sheer size compared to all the 707s, 727s, Dc9s, etc. It was a PanAm (oddly enough) and from my vantage point, it was emerging from behind a large hangar. As it was emerging, I of course was expecting to see the wings at a certain point having seen many "normal" 747s being towed from this vantage point. When the wings appeared much quicker than I expected....I hardly had time to think to myself "that looks odd"....when the rest of her was revealed and I was left stymied at what I saw. I surely thought this was an optical illusion and was just turned a certain way as to make her look "stubby"? I asked my Aunt (who worked for Alitalia Cargo back when they had a cargo presence at JFK)...and of course she replied it was a 747 after just a quick glance at it. (she was busy with work, but a 12 year old boy and aviation nut would not be ignored, her fault for bringing me to work, LOL)....I tugged at her sleeve and said..."No...look!" She put the paperwork down and sighed, then actually looked. The puzzled look on her face was priceless. After consulting with a few co-workers, she had the answer for me. Those were special moments in my childhood, and cherish them to this day. 🙂 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here Â
