Another tweak that might actually work !

Hi All,

I don't normally post these types of videos or try the millions of "tweaks" out there but I have followed this guy for years and he genuinely puts out some good videos. I tried this and it did make a difference. Your mileage may vary of course. Don't be put off by the title, it is a really short video and too the point.

I'd love to hear some other feedback

with a tweak like that it would have been very easy to have shown the FPS before and after, yet he didn't do it!

I lock my fps so not sure what it did there but for me it definitely seemed smoother. I don’t tend to worry about fps these days what’s more important is fluid stutter free flights.

I guess if one gets a smoother sim that is a performance gain

@RJC68 Absolutely, if you have gained smoother performance. Just make notes to exactly what you changed so you can go back if any problems pop up in the future with sim updates and driver updates.

I don’t tend to do any tweaks to be honest just for the exact reason you mentioned. I prefer to keep the sim completely standard. I figured I’d give this a try and did two 2 hour flights in the HD B787 and was really pleased with the results. I’ll do some more testing over the coming days.

My Tweak was to purchase an AMD rx6900XT for $560 (Open Box - bargain basement price + I used AMZN cc offer discount).

Amazon still has some listed at $720 if anyone needs a card, no idea the actual condition, but renewed is most likely open box I guess.

Pretty sure the "new VC" tweak works...

Well as I am like most very skeptical about these, I do try some of them.  Most fail the muster test.  So far this one has not.  I have some carefully recorded baseline vs tweak results and can report framerates at three airports, same day and time.  Duplicate weather conditions including surface temps.  I appear to have gained from 8 to 10 FPS when my MSFS General Settings are max'd out as measured from consistent airport locations.  Disclaimer: for my system.  My system specs are below in my message footer.

I am SU9.

I didn't notice any difference since I seem to be CPU bound in most situations....however, I'm using SU10(b), DX12, DLSS. My GPU load in general is fairly low in 2D mode (with the sim update). In VR it's GPU bound, but performance seems to remain the same before/after trying this. Are you all using SU9 or the beta?

Load aircraft in high performace area. Fly around.  Start at default med/high settings. Tweak,  Not hard???

The biggest performance tweak that helped me the most was the ngu reg edit and using ISLC.

Q8 Pilot has some good videos so it shouldn't be total malarkey.
Hopefully I won't need any more tweaks with a new VC...

All of these tips always are just a placebo effect thing.

If you want better performance the biggest thing you can do is turn down terrain lod.

Well that's the main thing, but there are a couple others that make minor differences.

Tell you what though, Ultra is on a different level when inspecting textures close up, not that much difference when flying though.
I had tweaked and tweaked kind of a halfway between High and Ultra thinking I wasn't losing much, but yah, I was...

That's why I just broke down and bought a new VC, and hopefully will get very close to 3090 performance for almost 1/3rd the price of the 3090.

although I normally dont do these things I tried it and it gave me  3 fps more inside view and 2 outside. (on the ground)

Now see if it has effects in the long run

I hate these videos when a simple bit of text to explain would suffice, I know it's "only" 3 minutes but it would take less time to read about it and implement the change yourself!

One such video went on for over five minutes to show a simple registry change, all for the viewing numbers to appease their egos!
