September 2, 20223 yr I love the Milviz C310 but it had ONE disappointment... they used the default KAP140 AP in it... which works like ****. I know there is a mod for it but even that one doesn't work as it should. And with SP1(beta) even less. Recently I discovered the C152 mod from JPLogistics and I noticed it uses a KAP140. And what's more... everything seems to be working as it should...! It captures your VS when you turn it on and yes, even the ARM and BARO buttons work!!! You can set an alt and arm it! (Incredible how such a basic feature can get you excited LOL) Now since it seems Milviz isn't planning/willing to create a proper KAP140 themselves (which I still don't get at ALL: they are thinking about adding the mod to SP1... seriously... guys... come on!) I wonder if someone knows if it is possible to use that JPLogistics C152 mod KAP140 in the Milviz C310...? Edited September 2, 20223 yr by tup61

Ah, Bob, so nice how you always find the time to post that you have no issues at all with whatever problem is being posted about. 🤪 But I wonder: does the ARM button work on your KAP140? What happens when you click on BARO? Can you change QNH? If so, what mod are you using? Edited September 2, 20223 yr by tup61

Sorry to disappoint, but I just get tired of posts that complain that everything in the sim doesn't work correctly, and I use these same items all the time and don't run into any problems. What I do , is watch instructional videos on Youtube, and read manual for different equipment, and learn how it works. https://milviz.com/Online_products/Manuals/KAP_140_Autopilot.pdf Edited September 2, 20223 yr by Bobsk8

What I do , is watch instructional videos on Youtube, and read manual for different equipment, and learn how it works. I never ever said anywhere everything in the sim doesn't work correctly. I also can get tired of all the moaning about this great sim but this isn't a matter of not having problems with it. I also flew the C310 for months without any problems like in 'this doesn't work at all'. The 'problem' I DID have was that the KAP140 didn't work AS IT SHOULD. It lacked basic features. Hence the mod. You used the mod so apparently you also had problems with the default KAP140...? 😉 But even the mod didn't work AS IT SHOULD. However, I found out the JPLogostics KAP140 in their freeware mod actually DOES work as it should! And since this concerns a freeware MOD I presume JPLogostics found a way to enhance the default KAP140 so it is actually working is it should completely. I'd like to see their modded KAP140 in the C130! That's all I am asking. 😉 Watching video's won't help here nor reading a manual because there is no manual for a KAP140 that is simulated badly. Only for one that is simulated properly. (And I don't need a manual anyway because the KAP140 is very easy to use... if it is simulated properly. 😉 ) BTW That JPLogistics C152 is awesome! It even starts with all devices off in cold and dark, something even the payware C310 fails to do. You can't even turn some of the devices off in the C310, which I also found quite odd... In the C152 you can! And it has a properly simulated KAP140 and all that for free! 😉 I mainly fly the Fenix A320 now and the JPL C152. I always flew the C310 with the old school radiosctack, doing VOR only flights: the modded C172 is perfect for that, if not better because it has two VOR gauges and a DME with both NAVs in view: so it also beats the C310 in this regard...! I do have a sweet spot for the C152: imho it is BY FAR the best looking default MSFS plane. 😉 I am really happy JPL modded this one. It's a highly recommended mod. I wish it was because that manual is about a properly simulated KAP130. So Milviz does know how to create one... Why the heck didn't they put this one in the MSFS C301? Sim limitations? Apparently not because the JPL KAP140 is a lot better than the default MSFS one they included...

I haven’t flown the C310 in awhile, but if I recall correctly, if you press ARM altitude during a climb, the V/S goes to zero instead of maintaining your current V/S as the real KAP 140 should. I think the KAP mod fixes that, but you can’t use it as the same time as the PMS GTN since it’s owns AP overrides the mod. At least that’s what I understood. You can edit the C310 panel.cfg file: [VCockpit03] size_mm = 512,105 pixel_size = 512,105 texture = $KAP140_Screen //htmlgauge00=Generic/Autopilots/KAP140/KAP140.html, 0,0,512,105 htmlgauge00=JPLogistics/Autopilots/KAP140/KAP140.html, 0,0,512,105 As long as you have the JPLogistics C152 installed, it should work. LOL No, of course not, because you can't in this default version LOL because it doesn't work as it should. Yes, you can get things done, but it's odd, weird, confusing, not intuitive and NOT as easy as it should be with the KAP140. You also can get unwanted results with how this version levels off or doesn't capture VS etc. So yes, you can get used to it and you can make it work but it simply is NOT a properly simulated KAP140. That's the point. The following example is extremely exagerated but it's like saying 'Hey, this car works without any problems despite having no engine if you open the door and use your legs to move it forward'. Yes, it will get you from A to B but not as it should. Again, an exagerated example but I hope you get the idea. I couldn't think of a better one right now LOL And the other point is there IS a KAP140 that does work so I want that in my C310. AMD now I can, thanks to Bert. We all want realism, don't we?! So why settle with a word not allowed KAP (even if you can work around its quirks) if you can get a good one? 😉
September 2, 20223 yr @Bert Piekeand Tup? Is the kap140 in the c152 mod the same as the kap140 mod on GitHub? I did not have good results with the stabdlone GitHub mod but I may have had an older version. The mod didn't give me a working ARM button nor a working BARO. I think JPL added a mod of their own. The JPLogistic C152 is freeware so it's easy to give it a try! (That C152 mod itself is really worth 'the trouble' too btw!) I tried various KAP mods from various sources and none worked like this one does. Edited September 2, 20223 yr by tup61

It appears to do the job in the C310.. have not flown it enough to know if it has its own issues.. so far, so good. Edited September 2, 20223 yr by Bert Pieke Bert

For example, NAV mode operation for an aircraft with a DG (like in the C152) instead of an HSI (like in the C310) is not correct. It seems to be using MS default NAV mode. Milviz does have complete realistic versions of the KAP140 for both DG and HSI equipped aircraft. Their C310 for P3D includes one. I belive sooner or later they might decide to add those to their MS2020 aircraft. Edited September 2, 20223 yr by taguilo
