October 1, 20223 yr It seems it ALWAYS uses the more 'notherly' runways... like anything between 27 up to 36 up to 09. Everytime. Lately I started to set the plan (A to B) in the MSFS planner before creating the SB-plan and often it uses other runways. Just curious.
October 1, 20223 yr Yes it does. It is MSFS that is more likely to be wrong. Edited October 1, 20223 yr by Farlis
October 1, 20223 yr Author Okay! Still odd that every airport I use with SB always seem to use the exact same runway. The wind direction has got to change every now and then, you'd say...

October 1, 20223 yr When I am unsure I do two things I look at the wind from where MSFS get it from. https://www.meteoblue.com/en/weather/maps/mountain-view_united-states_5375480#coords=4/39.25/-115.23&map=windAnimation~rainbow~auto~10 m above gnd~none Or look up the runways in use on https://www.flightradar24.com SB gets it right 80% of the time. October 1, 20223 yr Real world runway use isn't always based on winds alone. It can also depend on local operating procedures or requirements for the airport (for noise abatement or others). Here in Las Vegas (KLAS) it is not uncommon for flights to have up to 10 knots of tailwind component on the departing and landing runways in use, primarily the 26's. With the length of the runways here (needed in the summer months due to really, REALLY hot days in excess of 110+ degrees) there is plenty of length for commercial airliners (in most cases) to take off and land with a small tailwind component on less-than-scorching hot summer days. SimBrief will many times want to create a flightplan for me using the OPPOSITE pointing runway(s) at KLAS when the real world flights are using the "preferred" 26's with a low tailwind component on them. October 1, 20223 yr Next to the words "depart" and "arrive" on Simbrief there is a cloud icon, hover over that with your mouse and it will show current real world Metar. You should then check the runways "proposed" by SB based on the Metar. Sometimes its wrong, most of the time right. You should probably check the charts as well to ensure everything lined up. For example EGCC has 23R and L. 90% of the time you take off from 23R if winds favour but sometimes SB will default to 23L. Just need a little due diligence before you create your FP. October 1, 20223 yr Most of the time Simbrief nails the runway I am cleared to take off on. ( I use PF3 for my ATC not the default ATC).

You never come flying in the right spot - Portugal! MFS and all of it's addons are bug free when flying in Portugal, well... unless you try to operate in LPBJ ... 😁 Answering your question, and while flying mostly shorts hops between portuguese airfields, I always get realistic Takeoff and landing rws that are on accordance with the present weather (METAR) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

LOL I can't mention all countries or the list would be too long but rest assured, I frequently visit Porti, Lisbon and every now and then Faro. ;) Anyway, thanks for all the replies! I never noticed that cloud icon on SB and will check it out but it's good to know SB usually has it right. ;)
October 1, 20223 yr Looks like Navigraph just wanted to get rid of a competitor by buying their company.
