November 4, 20223 yr You can save a bit of space if you follow this link: Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

If you just delete from the disk directly, it will try to redownload it because it thinks it was accidentally deleted. Deleting from content manager will tell MSFS you don't want it and it won't attempt to download everything again.

I used content manager about six months ago, deleted a bunch of stuff, and a few weeks later an update reinstalled everything.

I think (think; I don't know for sure) that major sim updates cause redownloads for some people. Hasn't happened for me yet but MSFS varies wildly between people.
November 4, 20223 yr Hasn't happened for me either. Things I have delleted using Content Manager have stayed deleted. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base
November 4, 20223 yr What is the advantage of "debloating?" Does it reduce load time or make the sim run faster? Storage is very inexpensive now (1 TB Intel M.2 SSD $70 or 6TB Seagate SATA for $135) so why bother? I currently have 15 TB spread across five drives and do not worry about space. Am I missing something? AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / MSI X870 Tomahawk Mobo / 64 GB DDR5 memory / RTX 4070 Super with 12 GB VRAM / AORUS FO48U 4k display NVMe for Drive C, an NVMe device dedicated to Flight Sim 2024 and a separate NVMe device for Flight Sim 2020 and an NVMe dedicated to 500GB of addons managed by AddonsLinker / 1 GB Comcast Xfinity Internet connection / HP Reverb G2 / Tobii 5 Head & Eye Tracking
November 4, 20223 yr Totally safe. I have removed all the bloatware using Content Manager (the only way to do it). Removed all the default liveries, all bushflights, all landing challenges and bunch of planes I dont care for. A huge chunk of GB gained. More space for mods mods mods! 1 hour ago, TacomaSailor said: What is the advantage of "debloating?" Does it reduce load time or make the sim run faster? Am I missing something? Its a good question! I like an uncluttered game. I dont want to see stuff I dont care about. For example the airplanes. I only use the A320neo, King Air & Caravan. I dont care for anything else. Its just clutter to me. I am huge on mods so every GB taken up by bloatware I could use for mods. I liken MSFS to a new Android phone. One of the first things I do is get rid of the bloat apps. You do ask a valid question though. Storage is very cheap these days and it is a pain in the behind to remove stuff I dont want as the UI is so laggy and clunky. Content Manager also feels like wading through quicksand. If only they had menu options labelled: Remove all fictional default liveries Remove all Bush Flights Remove all Landing Challenges Remove all POI Flights Remove the selected aircraft (click the ones you want to delete from a compact list) ..it would be a dream! I feel the menu system needs streamlining & optimizing but thats a whole other topic.

Well I just deleted a ton of bloat ( again) and we will se what happens. A couple of aircraft like the C 152, I could not delete for some reason. I left all the airports, just deleted aircraft, lessons, missions and all that other stuff I never had used. Edited November 4, 20223 yr by Bobsk8
