This thread is about XP12, but since MFS is, strangely, being mentioned 🙂  I have to express my thoughts too about that great flightsim:

- given the investment they're making in development, I really don't expect anywhere near the same fate for MFS tha MS FLIGHT did have.

I'm really looking forward to be able to continue using both for as long as I can ( heheheh, which isn't usually that long 😜 )

haha MS FLIGHT what a joke that was .. MSFS is here for the long haul for sure

Yes, this was a brilliant move. Mobile is a huge revenue stream for LR. To think of the disaster if they had gone with DX12 instead of Vulkan... Ooof.

Oh I agree, the mobile platform is where that small team (that he never grew) will thrive. XP will (and should) dominate the mobile market. MSFS will own the rest...PC and consoles. Ooof...

Has to? He's been taking public shots at M$ for decades. Does that hurt your feelings? It's called marketing. Get over it.

Marketing??? When you look at the many discovery series by MSFS talking about their features etc., that's called marketing. But at least you admitted to Austin's childish antics, its just a shame that you chose to label such nonsense as marketing.

MSFS is still going full steam

if you want to bet $1000 that all the "not planned" and "under investigation" items on the MSFS development list will actually get released in a future sim update, I may well take you up on that offer.

If by "full steam" you mean holding the odd dev stream talking about aircraft elevators and paying people to post on xplane forums, no thanks.

You want the safe haven of praising XP over MSFS

I own and praise both simulators.  I have hundreds of posts on the MSFS forum praising it.  What I don't do is go to the MSFS forum just so I can point out its flaws constantly.

then you want to claim ownership of the forum by saying that anyone who challenges your comments are "outsiders" coming in here to talk about MSFS or haters.

There is a forum to talk about MSFS, so post there.  If you have anything constructive to say about XP I'll be glad to hear it.

You can't have it both ways

Yes, I can.  I own both MSFS & XP12 simulators, both are excellent.  I reference MSFS against XP12 because each have good and bad points.

1 hour ago, OverTheEDJ said:

always has to make reference to MSFS (even indireclty) to somehow make XP look better than what it is.

Nobody held a gun to my head to force me to use XP12.  I use it because on balance I find more positive attributes than negative with it.  If I remark that I find something in XP12 to be better than MSFS, I am NOT stating MSFS is a poor simulator, far from it.  In fact, on this XP forum I praise MSFS, not slate it.

Good Grief...

My sentiment entirely - go and discuss MSFS on the relevant forum and stop your constant bashing of XP12 on a forum where I wish to discuss XP12 with like minded simmers.

It does actually work on Linux. Mostly. You can thank Valve for that, who also really don't like M$....

Per mSpark's previous comment, SU12 still comes out early next year, so that much is booked. Beyond that the calendar is curiously empty.

Good trolling there. They have always presented the plans going forward in 3 month cycles. Just like thy will do in the beginning of December where we will see the plans for Jan-March.

This has nothing to do with my post...my post was about what you do in the X-plane forum expecting no one to say otherwise. Lets not distract to hide the fact.

So you can talk about MSFS here, but others can't??? Thanks for confirming my statement about the hypocrisy...

Irrelevant, you referenced MSFS period in this thread...so others will do the same for whatever reason they want.

So do I...so apparently you don't have a problem when "you" do it...again, the entitlement and hypocrisy...

Now you want to tell posters what to do...

Your post reminds me of a recently closed thread, where a poster, murmur, started a thread spreading misleading information about MSFS, he then later admitted that he was biased and looked to avoid others (MSFS folk) pressing him on his misleading statements. Ultimately, he (the starter) made an appeal to the mods to close the very thread that started with his misleading statements.

That is the culture here, the so called XP fans wanting it their way despite this being a forum board for all to express their thoughts. And then wanting to silence others or bury the evidence when they are proven wrong.

Bottom line, you make a comparison to MSFS on this board, you are bound to get a response...you don't like it...start your own forum.

The next time you feel "free" to mention MSFS in "here", I will be sure to as well...deal with it.

Have you gone back and read your posts in the MSFS forum in the year before it was released? It is actually so cringe to read all your whacko theories that I am surprised that you have the guts to post more related to this topic.

I dont post in the MS forum, it was made very clear that deving for windows specific software is still the nightmare it always was.

But afaict pretty much everything came to be. MS funded it on the expectation it would drive PC subscriptions, when that didnt happen they dropped it like a rock less than 12 months after release, all the 3PD systems are still locked out of xbox so PMDG, who funded dev based on xbox sales have so far got nothing but refund requests, and 2 years in basic functionality promised for launch is still getting delayed.

All these things are why I decided to stick it out for the XP12 release, rather than putting time and hardware into a windows machine. Cant say I have any regrets. XP dev has been pure pleasure, with great groups of people, and spawned a new generation of developers whose experience should mature during the XP12 run.

Uh? What misinformation are you talking about? It was established in that same thread that pitot icing is incorrectly modeled in MSFS. And also that icing effects in MSFS have been dumbed down due to gamers request. 🤷‍♂️

And here we are...yet another XP thread derailed.  Closed.
