Pro ATC SR has speech recognition as well, this is what the SR stands for. It pretty much works out of the box. I liked the voices and the interface a whole lot better than what Pilot2Atc offers.

In the end, all of these programs leave a lot to be desired, especially in terms of the "naturalness" of the voices, the GUIs are usually clunky, something straight out of early 2000.

Totally disagree. First, i had presale questions about PRO-ATC SR and reached out to them. Crickets. Second, the voices in P2A are totally fine and can be added to. Third, the UIs in both are pretty similar. And finally, none of these programs are “perfect” but P2A was a game changer for me when it comes to increasing immersion and enjoyment. I think support is a pretty critical area to achieve those benefits, and Dave at P2A killed it, allowing me to take this hobby to the next level.

I’ve been using P2ATC for over a year now. I too, let the co-pilot handle most of the chat with ATC. I’ll jump in once in a while though. I have also purchased the Stick & Rudder chatter files, which provide excellent background ATC. Sometimes for VFR flights I’ll use P2ATC, not for ATC, but just background chatter. I find the ATC voices are clear and concise enough as well.

I have been using Pilot2ATC for about 20 months now and I think its great, Dave really does go above and beyond to help people with problems and is updating the program all the time. Somebody asked a while back if he could add a Simbrief button to import our FS2020 flightplans directly to the program and within a few days it was up and running and it works great. It has its limitations of course but adds way more realism than the awful default ATC!

So many cool things about this program. It works great with FSLTL. If there are two planes in front of me waiting to takeoff ATC tells me to hold short. If i see traffic out my window ATC alerts we to it. So FSLTL can do its magic and P2A is aware of it. Also today i discovered Amazon has a voices service called Polly that can be integrated into P2A. Supposed to be awesome, so going to check that out.

Couldn't agree more with the sentiments expressed here. I've communicated with Dave many times over issues I've identified and he has always resolved them quickly. I agree that the interface can look daunting, but I appreciate the options it gives you.

I don't talk to ATC much because I generally fly at night and the sleeping members of the house would object, but I too think it would be painless to do the minimum speech recognition while letting the copilot handle the rest.

I have gotten various Cereproc voices in their sales (they are currently running a 50% off sale) and they are great in that they just work. I also got the Chatter add-on and find that to be the most immersive part of it.

Very highly recommended!!

I haven't tried any of the Polly voices.  But I have purchased one Cereproc voice, since it was on sale (50% off!), and find that it's not all that well suited for P2ATC.  My goal was to have a voice that was french-accented English, but in reality the Cereproc voice's accent is really really strong, as in no French or Quebecois controller would sound like that (I think).

Microsoft Claude (a free one) is also pretty heavily accented but I'll have to look into the Amazon Polly voices.

I tired Pilot 2 ATC years ago, and to me the lack of multiple voices was a rea; deal killer. I was spoiled by the 110 or so voices in PF3, and at $35 a pop for additional voices, that would have cost me a fortune.

Well there are dozens of free voices for P2ATC that work quite well.   If you really wanted to spend money on a voice there are sales from time to time.  But I find the free voices to be very good.

Where are these free voices located?

Well, to each their own, but I looked at both extensively and decided to go for Pro ATC SR, despite the non-existant support (there is a user group for Pro ATC SR on Facebook). Both are lacking.

Is there a recommended good video that gives a good dose of what ATC sounds like?  I have no interest in using my own speech but would like to hear the quality of the voices that come with it.

To be in the perfection path Pilot2ATC should work in VR.

That is what i did. Have about 10 voices. Works fine. Tried Amazon Polly but it wasn’t reliable so removed it.

I too have been using this APP for years. It only gets better. No matter the question Dave has always responded to me without fail. Really surprises me at times as I am just one little guy out there among many. Always solved the problems or given advice.  I love this program and would not fly without it. Love love love it.
