XP12 - Amazing Performance!

Its not Laminars fault many people still choose to install windows on decent hardware, LR actually gives them more modern and highly developed options.

People on windows complaining about performance is pure comedy tbh.

I would happily embrace Linux where these issues don't exist. But then other issues exist there, and the lack of support for some 3rd party addons. But then again, x-plane is the only platform that doesn't work properly in this situation.

Setup: RX6800 | 5800X3D + B450 | 32GB 3200MHz | X-Plane 12

upside being the unsupported addons were created by devs with no regard for performance.

Diagnosing XP perf issues is generally pretty easy

"help i have perf issues"

"are you using windows"

"yes"

"there's your problem, the PC is probably doing something more important like uploading your documents and emails to a chinese webserver, while encrypting your hard disk for an incoming ransomware attack"

Rubbish retracted. We all happy now. The point was an allegory that chasing fps is a zero sum game because what a machine can do and what your brain can do are two different things. What you percieve and what you see may not be equally linked. We all know that gaming and computer graphics utilises and is capable of very high FPS, that is not the point. The point is if it matches your perception without a counter who can tell what the FPS is? I certainly cannot unless it goes below that threshold. Thats all I meant to say!

It is the dot on the windscreen syndrome one second it is a dot the next it is a complete and very large aircraft - your brain has only registered the dot!

I won't complain now that I get in excess of 90 fps on my new RTX 4090, running windows 😊

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

The "FPS game" becomes irrelevant when we're talking about anything above stable 40FPS or so. Anything under that becomes visible to the eye, so we're obviously interested in what is happening.

which I don't get in x-plane 12 most of the time in 4K resolution, even in a lousy C172 and a lousy RTX 4090.

Happy New Year Goran   The best for 2023

And happiness is moving the sliders (for the time being). The sliders will return to where you want them as issues are addressed and rectified. No sim is perfect. Keep the glass half full.

Happy New Year!

Unfortunately sliders are already moved, and further moving them would made the sim too ugly to be enjoyable.

Sadly the BSS sound pack for the A319 doesn't work in Linux. And there's still some panel flickering.

fmod is defined by text files, so find that hard to believe.

unfortunately amd linux updates from LR for this  are still held up by windows not supporting important functionality.

The BSS pack uses a custom plugin because it originated in the XP10 days.

@bogdansrb

FTSim has a fmod based soundpack for the A319.
