Black Sqaure Kingair Flight Director

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to get the flight director to work in manual mode, with the a/p off?

I read the manual but it's not working as instructed. It sys the f/d is supposed to stay on after clicking the a/p disconnect button once, and then you should be able to set all the modes and fly it manual with the f/d...but instead the entire system including the f/d shuts off.

I think there is an issue.  When I first got the plane I'm pretty sure FD only was working but now even the AP seems to have random disconnect issues for me.

I also recommend the C414 if you don't already have that - the FD does independently operate.

I have issue with nxi and radar setup. Quarter of gtn screen is unclickable . Also WT gns doesn’t work . Developers need to step up and update King Air

Thanks guys, guess I didn't screw it up then as it sounds like dev issues. I DO have the 414, btw Ryan, it's just that I was so hoping for a nice KA for so long now so I took the plunge after reading up a bit but saw no mention of this issue being discussed so I figured it was ok 🙂 Uhg!

For the money we had to spend to get into the Black Square King Air I was expecting a much better service. Only one update since it came out and that was a long time ago......

Have you tried uninstalling the WT GNS? That's usually fixing all problems.

I assume most devs are waiting for the AAU to go live later this month. Before that it makes no sense to implement WT GNS support as main and beta branch behave quite different on this topic. Otherwise I don't know any real issues atm that would need a fix!? I'm using it with TDS nxi in Beta without additional WT GNS package without any problems.

Same question here. Do you have the WT GNS package installed? Without the FD in manual mode is working fine for me. Just tested.

I guess that must be my problem, I will check to see if I have the WT 530 installed through the marketplace, as it's not in my community folder.

Thank you. Do you know if it works (the manual f/d) with the freeware 750 gps (not the TDS one)?

I've not received any response from support on any issue reported.

I went back to check this just now and it seems to be working fine.  In my case I've selected 4000 ft and I've engaged NAV and CLB modes and the FD bars are commanding correctly imo.  Then I continue the RNAV approach and press APPR mode and the FD bars command a descent with lpv gp active on the EADI.  Everything seems to be working (TDS clickspots included).  If you have inop clickspots make sure to update your TDS app - I think they added something that disables the WT GNS from guiding the AP (but note I have a WT GNS530 running)

For me one of the obvious issues is engine performance. With engine deflectors on I get only 70% tq  beginning the take off roll. Seldom are deflectors not used on takeoff. The White ASI indicator is at 220. Check the limitations. I've sent a note in to them about it. VS mode selector..... This is supposed to be design/created by pilots. I was really looking forward to it. In the rw I flew the 90 & 200 for many years. Before anyone stats throwing rocks saying no 350 time I should mention a Pt6 is a Pt6.....some are just more peppy than others. This machine as created is 90% of the way to being a great creation. Hope the creators finish the fine tuning.

Ryan - I went ahead and upgraded to the TDS 750. Did the same thing as you by running the default 530 alongside and since the 750 was driving the a/p everything worked as advertised. Was able to perform an LPV manual using the f/d without issue...was even able to skip ahead in the approach and pick it up after the IAF, no problems. Thanks!

While I don't mind making the purchase (since I'll get good use out of personally) I can't help but feel frustrated that after more than 2 years time the stuff out the box still is not up to doing what it should. Whether that's on MS/Asobo or 3rd parties is not the point...just that it's a bit frustrating to still have to deal with always spending extra money and having to keep track of too many addon's just to get things working well.

In any case...thanks again for your insights guys.

I think with just the WT GNS the AP isn't working correctly yet.  But we must remember that WT GNS is still in beta.  I believe they'll eventually be a part of the sim.

I do agree just flight hasn't been the best at fixing things.  Their arrow is still somewhat broken as far as gtn and GNS goes.

I share your frustration, but frankly, the "out of the box" avionics have been a work in progress for many months now, and WT is getting close to the finish line.  Wait for them to release the avionics update and then for the dust to settle.  After that, lets talk again..

As for the addon GTN750, TDS has done a marvelous job on it, and I predict that you are going to be very happy using it. 🙂
