No Live Weather

Recommended Posts

This morning I am getting updated METAR and is correct at all the airports I have tested and compared to real time METAR.  However, the weather is not depicted in the SIM, still getting clear skies regardless of the actual METAR in SIM.   I guess it's a step forward......

Managed to do a flight last night where the injected weather was correct but the METAR was out of date junk.

Today, METAR is correct but no injected weather.

No flying today.

Sat at LEBL for about 10 or 15 mins and suddenly weather was injected.   I am now sitting at CYVR to see if and how long it takes for it to change.

I think it's bee fixed as of now. Checked EKCH and EFHK - cloud depiction is in accordance with METAR. Keep my fingers crossed though.

Many in official forum still saying it’s broken. Still broke for me on US West server.

Also checked CYVR and KDFW - both look good in terms of clouds' generation.

Wind and temps worked on my flight from KLAS, but no clouds to be seen on arrival into YYJ. Chatting with another dude who was in sim at YYJ he could see clouds. How odd. Clouds were evident along the way.

Recently I've noticed that when cloud is reported as "FEW"  no cloud will show.

If cloud is reported as broken scattered or overcast then things look better. Metars continue to lag reality.

I'm about to push for my morning coffee flight from KCLT to KTPA.

I have live weather and it matches the current conditions at KCLT.

The only discrepancy is that MSFS says winds are 180/4 and the METAR reads 170/4. I can live with that. Might be a mag var issue?

METAR winds are always reported in degrees referenced to true north. The winds you get from the tower at the airport or from an airport ATIS broadcast (the “actual” wind), will be referenced to magnetic north.

The variation at Charlotte is close to 8 degrees west, so the “actual” wind injected into MSFS appears to be correct.

Well, the Online Services Monitoring page now (2023-02-08) indicates that the status of Live Weather has returned to:

“Investigating”
