Potential window for SU12 beta deployment... Soon...

Featured Replies

This will be the first 'window of opportunity' today.  It may not make it of course if there are a few things that Asobo are still not happy with.
Myself, I can't wait to try the new turbulence intensity setting, along with a lot of potential helicopter tweaks.  I will be excited to see the full release notes.
They sometimes sneak other fixes / tweaks in where they can of course.  I actually prefer these to the World Updates, although I am very much looking forward to the New Zealand one.

Anyone else looking to sign up?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Was it announced somewhere?

Various dates, but this was the first potential one.
Another was 23rd Feb, but with SU12 full release scheduled for mid-March, it won't give much time for testing unless the beta gets pushed soon.
They could delay SU12 of course if they are falling behind.

There is the usual thread here.

The draft release notes have been around some time, and some people who monitor file uploads seem to think it is imminent and they are just applying the finishing touches.

Are you in the beta?

If Asobo isnt happy with it im not really looking forward to it.. but im signed up regardless. If it has a potential  showstopper in it i would hope they let it remain in the hangar for a few more days.

since MS does not kick one out of the beta anymore I am signed up and will continue to be so, never had a single issue (knock on wood) with their betas and trust that for SU12 it will remain like that. the turbulence slider I will not touch though, like it if the planes shakes when flying over mountains or during approach, no need to dial this down on my side, primarily if not exclusively flying tubeliners though

Hello,

We have not yet announced the start date of the SU12 beta. Anything you read online that doesn’t reference an official source should be treated as nothing more than a rumor.

Thanks,

Well 1600z and no sign of it.  So I lost my first £50!

Still tweaking it then, which is for the good of course if they need to.
Obviously you expect some problems with beta's, but we don't want a broken sim to test in, so it is good that they take a while longer if they need it.
The last few beta's haven't been too bad at all.  I seem to remember the PMDG 737 had a little problem in SU11 beta, but that was fixed with a few days.

I am now banking on next Tuesday. They like Tuesdays don't they?  Here goes another £50 on the table!

I don't think we have to wait till next Tuesday. This has been their preferred weekday for the official releases, but betas varied a lot more in weekday and time. One of the betas for SU10 or 11 was even released on a Friday night close to midnight UTC... so anything is possible!

Makes sense 😉

Anyway, I'd be surprised if we don't get a beta by this weekend. Of course this can always change in case they come up with an unexpected showstopper during internal testing, but if I were to bet I'd say we get it before Sunday 😉

I hope so.  I can't believe how excited I get over these kind of things.  I must have a sad life.   Although it feels pretty good to me!

I used to be extremely excited with the first few updates, but the excitement died down a bit over time. But the high quality of the last two betas for SU10 and SU11 makes me wanna jump right in again just at the release 😂

My plan is to wait a day or so and see if people report any major issues, but I already made a backup of my MSFS folder, so in case I join too early and run into problems I can revert to the stable branch easily, takes about 30-40 minutes to copy everything back in place.

This can't be said enough: Make a backup of your MSFS folder! Saves you from having to download the whole sim again in case something gets messed up! Especially when joining a beta...

I think we'd have heard a few more rumbles in the jungle if it were about to drop today.
