Streaming from Asobo Question

Featured Replies

Now that I had to do a reinstall, I am in the process of reinstalling the World Updates, all of which are pretty big.

My question is, that I now have all this stored on my computer, what am I streaming from Asobo?

Photogrammetry, bing-based terrain textures and autogen, weather…maybe more I’m not thinking of?

The only thing I could think of was ATC and Live Weather.  I don't use either of those.  Thinking about turning off my Wifi and see what happens.

Your ground and scenery will look like a 20 year old sim.

You don't have to turn your wifi off. Just go to the general options/data and switch off online functionality. Then enjoy a 2006 sim because they won't be any satellite imagery anymore.

Thanks for the replies.  After all the problems I've had lately I've considered going back to a 20 year old sim.  🙂

You must have missed my little smiley face to show I was just kidding.  I'm not going anywhere.  This sim it what I wished for all these years.  I was just curious as to what was in an eight gigabyte file.  I thought it was scenery.

The scenery in MSFS is layered (as it was in FSX before it..)

Base layer is on your computer, Bing online scenery is streamed and cached, and custom scenery objects are again on your computer (like World Updates or purchased scenery packs..).

My inner know-it-all just has to say: Nothing.

The streaming data comes from Microsoft Azure and not Asobo. 😉

I thought the terrain mesh is also streamed?
