impressive how well even the 5800x3D stacks up. wait for the 7800x3D on April 6th for only $ 449.

Because i m using 4k resolution and using my pc only for sim i will wait for release of 7800x3d... then i will choose either 5800x3d or 7800x3d.

I went from a 10850K to a 5800X3D, recycling my RAM and AIO cooler in the process. Not only did I get a great performance boost (>50%) in previously CPU bound scenarios but the smoothness improvement was significant.  Even factoring in the cost of needing a new motherboard, I was and still am extremely pleased with this upgrade from an MSFS perspective.

seems to be still the price/performance king. big cache seems to be more important than a few hundred MHz clock speed increase. surprising how close the $300  5800x3D benchmark results are to the $ 700 Ryzen 7950x3D, which also requires more expensive mobo and DDR5.

here a great explanation how v-cache works, starting 5:40: access to cache memory is 10 times faster than access to standard RAM memory.

And that's why I just bought a 5800X3D. 
5800X3D cost €390 in Norway.
Selling my old 5900X for about €250.

Cheap upgrade for multi double digit improvements.
I've yet to experiment with it myself, but probably a good match for the RTX 4080.

Picking up the 7900x3d today. Im sure perf is similar to 7950x3d. Dont wanna go for the 7800x3d because in everyday use I want the extra cores (does make difference).  Coming from a 5900x im sure I will see a handsome increase in frame times. Will see how the 3080 performs w this chip and then decide to keep or get 4080 or 4090. 

previous setup with 7950x, 4090 at 4k, taa gives apprx 55 fps. But now with 7950x3d with 4k and taa gives apprx 85 fps. What a nice boosting here!

Any test on P3D and XP? afaik 58X3D doesn't help on XP11

I tried to replicate this test at 4K and the 7950X3D is doing about 18% better than my 13900K system. Nice! OTOH My 1% and 0.1% are considerably better.

100 - 160 fps @ 4K: am I dreaming? If someone had forecasted this in 2020 when MSFS was launched I would have said: is it april's fool day yet? and wait till you see complex airliners, traffic and scenery. fps would go down instead up. is this for real? honestly, one has to see it on youtube to believe it. is this Memorex or MSFS? I can't believe it, I must be crazy.

Good man, I'm glad you did that.   Now do you see what I was saying?  The 1080p chart matters.  The 4K charts showed the high-end cpu's all about equal in performance at 4K.  But yet, here we have a test over a complex environment (New York) with seemingly anomalous results of the 7950X3D being 18% faster, not -1% or +2%.  This is why the 1080p chart matters.  It shows cpu headroom for cpu-intensive areas like New York and the Flybywire A320.  And this test is more like how we might actually load up the sim (4K resolution, with our most demanding scenario being cpu-heavy airliner into a cpu-heavy big city).

 

just about to get my 7950x3d to go with a 4090 - just wondering if anyone has any experience with 64gb rather than 32gb of memory and if it makes any difference in MSFS or you would see no benefit? (currently going with 32gb of 6000 cl30)
