PG off for me , its just ugly

Warthog Stick and TCA Captains throttle ( full pack)  Velocity 1 Rudder Pedals , extreme3D for the Tiller,Streamdeck XL x2 / Streamdeck +/Streamdeck mini because i like pressing buttons

Photogrammetry didn't change with SU12 so if you should have it on or off is a personal preference. Photogrammetry only can be seen in specific cities and usually it looks like word not allowed. But that's my personal opinion LOL. I have it turned off always because I don't like melted buildings. Airports NEVER are photogrammetry (luckily) so they always look good.

I have it turned off and still buy the third party city packs for cities I really want in good detail.  There is a good one out there for Toronto at reasonable price.

PG is a good idea in principle, but sometimes doesn't work very well in practice; the 'melted' buildings thing is quite common.

It is another thing MS / Asobo need to look at as they push PG and City updates so much in the world updates.
Not sure if it is a bandwidth thing or just poor implementation, but PG certainly isn't the killer feature it is supposed to be.

Turning it off will not affect your Bing map tiles (ortho) by the way - they will still be fine.

Yes, I have to say that after the initial release of MSFS and the first two WU's or so I expected Asobo/MS to ditch the whole PG idea... I am honestly surprised that they keep on releasing new PG cities and even announce them with pride, as if they are great and awesome... Are they unaware of the fact that a lot of people (perhaps the majority) think they look like word not allowed and they might as well (or better) stop spending time on it...? But well, luckily we have the option to turn it off. 😉

Good addition, I also wanted to add that to my reply because I do think there still is some confusion about the differences between the Bing tiles and PG. Seems a lot of people still think PG is what makes the entire world look so real but that's Bing indeed. It certainly isn't PG! 😉

Totally agree.  I haven't looked at the New Zealand cities yet from the last World Update, they might be good, but if not, I think Asobo should consider postponing all future PG updates until it is all working better, and then release what they have as part of a big 'World City' update maybe.  Or as a minimum, at least redo the older ones before releasing more.  They said they weren't happy with London and they would revisit it, but it hasn't happened yet.

The poor Canadians had a bad PG update as well.  Some parts of Vancouver, and as already mentioned, Toronto weren't the best.
My pet gripe is that they had a go at Niagara falls and the scenery there, but that was also a half-assed attempt, with roads at 45 degrees nearly falling into the river etc. because they didn't attend to the mesh - such a shame and a wasted opportunity after the effort they put in.

The Canada world update ruined PG in Canadian cities like Vancouver… I guess Toronto got the same treatment. I heard there was a way to revert it back to pre world update Canada PG but I don’t know how.

Instead of PG cities, they should do like what Samscene, DD does. Actually create 3D models of the downtown areas. Those looks way better.

I don't think you can honestly expect that from Asobo/MS. It's already amazing what they deliver for free: you can't expect them to add free handcrafted 3D cities to the package...

But isn't that exactly what Google does in the Google Maps application?

I think PG will be improved over time. In my opinion, 3D models for each city is not a long term solution regarding disk space needed and overall sim performance. I always fly with PG turned ON.

One of the ugliest things in MSFS on par with the clouds. It's also heavy on the performance.

Afaik: no. Maybe they do add a few POI's here and there but it's mainly an automated and cleverly programmed process. It's certainly not all handcrafted. But even if Google did that: this is MS and Bing. 😉

As already mentioned.  If you like Canada, SamScene do a good Toronto and Vancouver.  There is a discount when buying them both together I think.

This will go nicely with the new Niagara scenery that will be coming out in a few days.
