4k TV with a 4070 ti poor performance

Featured Replies

I know i know every system is different and there's a million threads and posts about performance, but im running out of ideas and i look for some expertise from my fellow simmers.

Here's my situation, picture a heavy airport with a airliner, i get 30 plus fp's in DX11 and 60 plus using DX12 using DLSS, but in both i get massive stutters(with FPS drops) taxiing, sometimes panning... and takeoffs and approaches are a stutter feast, in the air everything runs smooth...i tried every combination i can recall, vsinc, no vsinc in the simulator and in nvidia inspector, from low end to ultra settings the result is always the same.

I came from a AMD 6700xt, performance was not spectacular in 1440p but was not so bad as im experiencing now in 4k with a 4070 ti.

Please check my signature for full specs.

Any advice will be most welcomed.

This is a known issue with FS2020, I can great frames while flying and when I get to airport, Mass stutters and very low frame rates. I thought Asobo had fixed this issue but it still happens. I posted many times on their website along with many others that had the issue. One user suggests when it happens to him, he turns off and back on the data line in options of FS.

What is your terrain LOD setting?

With your 8700K you shouldn't go much higher than 100 with an airliner at a large airport.

Your 4070TI doesn't help when your CPU is the bottleneck.

I run an 8700K with a 1080TI and everything is smooth in the Fenix, with TLOD 100.

Have you deleted your shader cache? That helped me a lot!

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

LOD is 100, and yep i know, my CPU is my bottleneck, but i dont think this problem is because of the CPU, it should perform better

The 8700 is probably your limit. I never get the stutters with a 5900x which would match well with the 4070ti.

I wont do that.  You will do that.  Lol  😉

Actually a 5800x 3d will solve all of your problems.  Just like a new wife.

Have you tried Frame Generation with TSS, no DLSS?

DX12 on. Frame Generation on.  TSS on.  In my setup (i5 13600k, 4070ti) I’m getting consistently high frames at the big hitter airports, IniBuilds LAX and JFK. Mostly Ultra settings, seeing 80-90 at gates, 70-80 during taxi.

YMMV but it will only take two min at most to try, if you’ve not already done so of course.

I had an 8700K at 5GHz with an RTX 3080. I kept the 3080 and upgraded to a 13600K, undervolted and overclocked to 5.4 and the stutters have virtually disappeared.

I also use Addon Linkers ability to run companion apps on different CPU threads. FSTL, FS Realistic, ATC Chatter etc, all run on their own efficiency core in the new CPU.

Are you limiting your frame rates? If not, you guarantee that your CPU maxes out in those demanding scenarios and stutters often result. With DLSS, I cap at 60 using Nvidia Profile. Also heavy AI traffic and clouds at Ultra load you CPU.
