Why does he use a CRJ flight plan and not an ATR plan?

At the moment Simbrief doesn't have an ATR export option

We can still use the same steps from this video but select the ATR instead of the CRJ.  Then save it.  Then import the same way right?

If so, my next question is if anybody has made a simbrief profile yet

Yes. On SimBrief already

right, but usually a 3rd party makes not only a type specific one.  But also specific to the developers type.  So like a specific fenix a320, pmdg 737-700 etc.  I'm guessing the stock simbrief atr one is not alligned too closely with the asobo atr.

Well if you had simply looked before rebutting my response you would see that it was specifically done with the Asobo ATR-42/72 in mind. There are new profiles for both planes.

No apologies needed. We all make mistakes 😎

Well I am sorry.  All I saw was GSX profiles.  I didn't see simbrief ones were out.  Has anybody done enough flying to see if the fuel burn is on track with these ?

There seems to be a problem with the ATR FMC stripping off the approach and destination airport when importing the flight plan and I'm not seeing the issue when I load the same file into the CRJ.

I've noticed you can save a flight plan out of the FMC using the main menu which saves it to the same location where you load plans from (unsurprisingly) and these flight plans load with all the expected data so next step is to look for any differences between them.

-- Update --

I believe I may have worked out the data problem.

The format of the "RwyArrFINAL" value is different between the Simbrief file and the one generated by the ATR FMC

For an ILS approach Simbrief uses something like "RwyArrFINAL=I15"
but it seems the FMS is expecting "RwyArrFINAL=ILS15"
so the FMC can't load the approach (or anything after it) into it's flight plan.

Similarly the ATR is expected "RNVxx" for RNAV approach and "LOCxx" for a localiser approach and I *THINK* this are "Rxx" and "Lxx" in simbrief so run into the same problem.

So the TL;DR; is that the ATR FMC data format is not QUITE the same as the CRJs and Navigraph look like they will need to create a tweaked ATR specific format to make it work.

-- Update 2 --

I've just put a request for an ATR specific format on the Navigraph forums but until that can be created (assuming it ever is) it's pretty easy to edit the plan after you've downloaded it to change the approach code to the expected value at which point the file should load fully.

In other addons: 1. Enter Simbrief id. 2. Hit import. Done!

A temporary workaround is : after importing the FP into the FMC, in the FLTPLAN page select the last waypoint and from here you can change the destination. Input your destination airport, then you can select the STAR and APP.

alright, got it. works just fine. just tried for a small LOWS EDDM hop and now cklicking on OTT in my flightplan I can select arrival RWY. THX! btw, this is probably the "official" way how to do it and I was just expecting too much?

Na neven on the official video they are doing it right. Its bugged. And the workaround is not always working looks like. I'm currently trying to fly from LICJ to LMML and what usually works with clicking on last waypoint doesn't work with this simbrief import. I stand corrected... workaround fine. Always good when you know what you are doing.  Hope they will fix it soon.

Cheers T.
