Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Announce Trailer

Now in a serious discussion, although I heard Jorg saying it on QA's.. is it not truth most people assumed MSFS was going to stay on same version for 10 years, rather than, Flight Simulator will keep been developed for 10 years?

I think this is a case of self assumptions, the 10 year commitment is ongoing.. here you have more new shinny flight simulatior coming to your door. And this time they are telling you, previous add-on's are compatible. Is not that proof they still committed with the project and keep pushing it forward?.

Indeed. They just proved their long time commitment in flightsimulation by announcing the next iteration.

To claim they broke their promise of a ten years project is just absurd.

the implication that MP products just works, it means there is no fundamental core changes to prevent you putting your community folder and get things moving.. certain things might need update, but this occurs even today when a SU is released and we 3rd party devs have to rush to fix stuff and release updates.

Is business as usual, we update after each SUX.. we update after each AAUX.. now we will update after MS2024.. nothing to see here, is our life as 3rd party devs.

S.

Now this would have been a good post to end this thread of useless hyperbole and drama.

The addons you purchase for 2020 will still work in 2020. The addons you purchase next year made for 2020 will also work in 2020

LOL

You forgot to mention that all these Addons made for MSFS 2020 still work after 10 years in MSFS 2020…. 🥳

What I do hope is that they also keep the evolving the multi monitor support and the SDK for cockpitbuilders.

A lot of added missions are fine, but don’t forget the study level ac users

think you're more right than wrong. The 'career' orientation means ATC, flight dynamics, scenery servers will be of secondary importance.

Wrong. It’s already been confirmed that flight dynamics have been improved. and missions aren’t just for ‘gamers’. And we can see scenery improvements in the trailer.

The people making the missions wouldn’t be the same programmers working on flight dynamics and physics. Those are different specialists.

Now in a serious discussion,

No company in its right mind would commit itself for 10 years for such a project.  But, in marketing like in politics, when you say something, you do not control what follows. This 10-year thing has been repeated ad nauseam and magnified by the f-boy community (MSFS worst enemies 😁 ).

About the hate thing. The only reasons they'd abandon 'the title' are mediocre revenues and profit performance below par and an insufficient contribution to the Game Pass program. What the users can think of FS24, frankly I think they don't care. Also if f MS   abandoned a product because of bad vibes coming back from the users we would, Heaven forbid, be all on Linux or MacOs.

Moderator : isn’t it an idea to put all threads regarding MSFS 2024 in a seperate forum section ?

Where is that 10 year commitment we always heard about????

This is part of that commitment. They never said 10 years for 2020, they said for the platform. This is an expansion of the platform

Sweeping the dust under the carpet is never a good idea. What do you mind in having this thread open ? How does it hurt you ? The only way to defuse what you call hyperbole and drama is discussion.

What is the problem exactly?

The problem is that MS/Asobo could stop development for FS2020 in favour of FS2024.
While MS/Asobo's commitment for 10 years did not mention versions at all we assumed that it was meant for the same product.

As long as all addons work fine in FS2024 I don't think there is a real issue apart from having to spent some extra money. The problem is when addons no longer work; we were lead to believe our addons would be usable in a sim that is in active development for the next decade. Having to stay with MSFS2020 because your addons won't work in the next version means you cannot benefit from a sim that is in active development anymore.

The problem is exactly as you have stated it. Those wishing to use some of the addons they bought did so without the knowledge that, if they wanted to continue to use them, they could only use them in an out of date legacy sim. Or pay again for an updated version.

Id like to see the devs do a commentary on the trailer. Talking about what it shows.
