June 12, 20232 yr This is the game I've been waiting for. The game will have around 1,000 planets to explore - that's right, one thousand. From what I've seen, it will be one of the most monumental and awesome games in history. June 12, 20232 yr It looks very interesting. The one aspect that I would need to see in more detail is the AI combat. I watched an earlier preview of this game, and the AI enemies were about as convincing as a Conservative Party manifesto on how to fix the NHS. June 13, 20232 yr Wow, it looks like Frontier: Elite x10000. Too bad I don't have time to play it though. I would have liked this 25 years ago. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

June 13, 20232 yr I don’t know what to think. No doubt, it is an impressive and beautiful showcase for the work of brillant artists and programmers but it feels sterile. Where is the beef, I mean the gameplay ? As a player of all the FO except 76 and the three last ES I want to move in and explore an open world but I also want factions with convoluted goals, conspiracies, quests. Maybe another video will tell us more. June 14, 20232 yr Can you actually fly through an atmosphere and land, or is it just cut scenes? Edit: Just leaned you can't, you can only fly your ship in space. Seems they have gone for more of a fun time that simulation. 😡 Edited June 14, 20232 yr by martin-w

June 14, 20232 yr That is a disappointment. I would expect to be able to fly from space all the way down to a planet surface in 2023. Quite the deal breaker for me. I did almost all my flying in the 2001 world. I learned how to do a proper deorbit and descent in the Space Shuttle with an autopilot that handled the entire procedure. After that it was easy. I'd do the entire thing "seat of the pants" too. Once I delayed the deorbit burn too long and overshot the landing site. I was able to skip off the atmosphere for an entire additional orbit and landed at the intended landing site. Ah, the memories. 🙂 In flight sims I find descent to be the most boring part of the flight. 😄 I love hand flying and avoiding GPS too. The only time I used the autopilot was flying the A2A Connie when I had to take a potty break and didn't want to upset my passengers, and once when the atmospheric lighting was causing a lot of eyestrain and I didn't have a horizon. Quite the deal breaker for me. Me too. Just like flight sim, the best bit is handling a tricky landing in dodgy weather. If its just "oh look, I'm in a space station, a cut scene did it for me" I'm not interested. Interesting that the developer said they'd leaned toward the fun aspect. What Star Citizen has going for it, is the ability to get out of bed, eat, put on your space suit, walk out of your apartment, interact with the station, walk to your spaceship, fly to another world, get out, explore the world.... all seamlessly with no cut scenes. If its ever finished.
