July 12, 20232 yr Is the base sim navigation database in V6 updatable or are we still stuck in some far gone decade? Cheers Steve Hall

The first thing I noticed yesterday after finally being able to start a flight at LPPT was that the rw numbers are still the old ones 😞 Navigraph doesn't update the sim navdata, and I don't have any addons installed yet, so, I'm left with that rather outdated database. I plan to visit Hervé's site ( Flight Simulator Aircraft Dynamics and NavData (sors.fr) ) in search for an update of the magvar, and, who knows, navdata too ... A pity that Navigraph can't update the sim navdata as it does with MFS 2020. P.S.: Unfortunately as stated here: FSX/P3D Navaids update (sors.fr) the P3d update is not compatible with v5, so I assume neither with v6... It's valid only up to v4. July 13, 20232 yr They used to have one you could request directly if you sent an e-mail. I have a Nav update for v5 and that is how I had to get it. I see they don't list that on their site anymore but might be worth a try. Thx: FAQ - Navigraph updates for FS9, FSX and P3D only - Navigation Data / FAQ - Navigraph Maybe they ( Navigraph ) can consider it in the Future (?). After all they already do it for XP12 and MFS 2020... July 13, 20232 yr Author I find it difficult accepting that this is the same simulator that commercial operators use having such an outdated and non updatable navigation database and with obsolete MagVar data. Cheers Steve Hall
July 13, 20232 yr I just do not understand LM's rationale for not fixing this. That means I have to use TimeZone Fixer also. This is why using GA at times sucks as we don't proper g1000 etc How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)

July 13, 20232 yr V4.5 was the last version that had monthly updates available from the now gone FS Aerodata but he pulled the plug when V5 was released. Great having up to date Navigraph for charts and FMS but a sorry state to have to look at the P3D map for the an old ATIS and ILS frequency. At least I can use an up to date GPS approach to an outdated runway. I would have thought at a minimum LM would have updated the database for a new release but not to be. I will continue to use V5.4 for a few aircraft but that's the end of line. I finished my career as a instructor and there is no way we would have trained with outdated information for clients in the simulators. It was common to get a request for training at specific airports and runways. Gary Stewart

August 2, 20241 yr I tried emailing Hervé for a P3Dv5 update and I never got a response. I got so tired of not having the right ILS frequencies I’ve pretty much given up on P3D mostly for this reason only. Pro-Sim A320 and MSFS 2024

August 13, 20241 yr Pouring through release notes, it appears LM fixed this in v6.1, at least for U.S. airports, from a FAA database. Pro-Sim A320 and MSFS 2024
September 4, 20241 yr This is one area that I don't like about in P3D - It uses old navigation database I think from 2006 or something (Someone can correct me). As a result flying GAs like A2A... stuff was quite difficult. This is where MSFS shines well (Don't want to start P3D vs MSFS debate) but it works - with Navigraph updatable database and working title avionics update - it is pleasure to fly small GAs doing all sorts of stuff (Complex instrument departures/approaches/holds... you name it). This is primary reason why I removed all my GA A2A stuff from P3D. These days I only use P3D to fly airliners. Edited September 4, 20241 yr by CAP1234
