How often are you getting "Connection Lost" alerts? And...

I had two yesterday, right in a row, and then no more. It is sporadic when it happens, usually on the weekend.

And then APL penalizes me if I pause to restore Bing Graphics after the sucker took me to Offline.  What's troublesome is right after I get the second message saying I'm being switched to Offline mode, suddenly I get the Connection Success! or whatever it says.  So it doesn't give it time to reconnect.

I don't do anything when that happens, because it usually reconnects in a few seconds. I didn't get points docked on APL.

I know, but I'm talking about IF you wish to turn Bing Graphics back on again.  When I get the Connection Lost alert sometimes it's followed up by a 2nd alert that informs me I've been switched to OFFLINE mode, and it DOES NOT turn Bing Graphics back on automatically.  As I say invariably after it switches me to OFFLINE this is followed up by Connection Success!, only it's too late!  No can fix that until you get to Initial Approach phase, which is tolerable since scenery visuals from on high on particularly detailed.  But still, I really don't like the pause penalty it's an artificial construct that is primarily playing the role of PIA for me it comes into play way too often.  This just has to do with how I use the sim and involves attending to other things around the house etc.  Oh, and Offline mode looks a whole lot like P3D.

I had ONE about a week ago. None for at least 6 months before that, using the North American West Coast Server.

My personal opinion is that it is provider related. I am with Telus 1GB, ethernet connection here in Canada. It must be the provider. So many have no issues, many do.

No it's not provider related.
Sometime ago it was even worse with the bandwidth error.
We made a TCP trace en analyzed it with Wireshark and it's the server side which is not responding which gives the bandwidth error.
Will be even worse with 2024.
Never was happy by playing games where streaming is needed.
Sometimes the bandwidth error is gone by using a VPN.

It's a CDN issue and NOT a provider issue

Awesome thank you

Been using that for months now, looks great, zero problems.

I'm not sure if this is of any help, but there is a site where one can run speed tests at user defined intervals:

https://testmy.net/auto

One does need to keep a browser window open, so that in itself might prove problematic if used while running MSFS, but this will certainly baby sit your internet connection for you.

Reading these and other discussions about this problem, it does seem that this is a server-side issue. I had it for a while and then it stopped.

Well, I am using MSFS up in average 4 hours a day. Never have any issues, except the one time I mentioned...

Even 1000 posts do not convince me, there are plenty of people, who do not have this issue on a regular basis. There is something else going on.

Even Asobo/MS can not recreate it enough to fix it for the people with issues.... Just saying..

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

There are a load of "stops" on the traceroute to the MSFS servers.  How do we know it's not one of those cutting out on any individual's connection?  If it were the MSFS servers it seems like everyone should be experiencing this, no?

@Noel, I guess it's a question of whose servers: MS or whatever CDN that they're using. This seems like a highly dynamic situation that may not be easily diagnosed by the end user.

Or, maybe I'm dead wrong about that.

Pretty miffed with this. I have occasionally got this error message over the time since MSFS release, but it would appear for a few seconds and then right itself. Today, I couldn't fly for the entire afternoon!

As an amendment to my last post, today (Sunday morning) I thought I would be able to have some nice flying time and, had foollishly thought the pain of this lost connection nonsense would have gone away.. wrong! So now I have been unable to fly for most of the weekend!!  When I try to research this issue, I noticed about 1000+ posts experiencing the same issue on the 'official' forum, but didn't read any response from Asobo as to what is being done about it. I'm sure there is one somewhere, but I haven't seen any. I have tried absolutely everything with zero success. I have only experienced this a couple of times for a minute or so since 2020s release. I am beginning to wonder whether it's some kind of throttling nonsense that my ISP is implementing? Wondering if a VPN would help?

I have this message from time to time, for a few seconds. I can't say that I am happy - I am not - but it is short and not very often. I have a lousy 4G connection.  I suspect indeed that the problem is on your side, your configuration or ISP.  I am thinking to go with Starlink.
