July 18, 20232 yr Recently after posting about Wifi v ethernet connection I decided to route new ethernet cable to my PC which was a small hassle. Bandwidth went from about 300mbps to 500mbps, but now I'm getting the bloody messages up to 2 or 3x per 1-2 hour flight. While on Wifi, it was once every many flights. So checking in here to see if there has been an increase in these alerts for you or not. I checked connections at the router and at the PC and they seem fine, so I'm really puzzled. I guess it could be a bad wire in the new 50' cable, or the port on the motherboard is defective. Very disappointing as I'm also pretty sure this move has eliminated the infrequent stutter I might get here and there. I can go buy another new cable for $30 and see if that fixes it. Any other ideas? Are you recently seeing more disconnects? The bad part is it will switch me to offline mode, then reconnects fast be leaves me in offline. July 18, 20232 yr Author I'm guessing, and don't know how to verify, that the lost connection is to the MSFS servers only, and NOT my home internet connection. How can I monitor the latter to see if this theory is true? My agenda is to learn if my new ethernet connection is the problem, or not. Speediest.app and check not only your download and upload speeds but also if all your home components are performing correctly. For example, in my home thanks to this app, I could detect some old Ethernet cables and one Ethernet hub that were not homogeneous with my other more recent home network components. After changing them, I could improve my performance. You can also monitor the connection with one specific site. This app was designed for Switzerland and Germany but it could be interesting to test it at your end and see if it helps or not. There is also one online here.https://speedtest.cnlab.ch/en/ Bernard CPU = 12900K / GPU = Nvidia 3090 VRAM 24 GB / RAM = 64 GB / SSD = 2 TB 980 PRO PCle 4.0 NVMe™ M.2,
July 18, 20232 yr Author Very good thanks Bernard. I wondering if these apps I can run continuously in order to detect and record a disconnection? This is really strange as I've never had the sim turn off Bing World Graphics after one of these disconnects, but that's what's happened twice now in two days. Very bizarre! I do use Speedtest but just to see what the bandwidth is. Out of memory, click on the green + on the bottom right of the app and select multiple tests. July 18, 20232 yr Never, ever seen the message in all my years of flying but weirdly enough it popped up yesterday during a flight. Turned the data back on and didn't see it again. July 18, 20232 yr Use the Google Map tool so your map data isnt coming from MS servers. More detailed terrain and no disconnects. So your assumption is it's the MS servers. Could well be, however I'm about to prove it one way or the other as I found the correct EventID to use to monitor local disconnects, versus server disconnects. ADDENDUM: well, had the Connection Lost, shortly followed by a message that I was being switched to OFFLINE Mode. Verified using event viewer my net connection did not disconnect. The only weird thing is this is much worse now than when I was using WiFi. In fact in 3y now I was only taken to OFFLINE mode once, and that was all when I was using WiFi. Weird! Do the servers sense you have too good a connection and cuts you off?!!#$!@$ Just changed servers to East Coast which has a ping time about double West Coast, but we'll see if there's any difference and I should know soon as this is happening VERY frequently now. July 18, 20232 yr Only had a couple since the last SU. Before hand it was quite often though. AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive
July 19, 20232 yr I had ONE about a week ago. None for at least 6 months before that, using the North American West Coast Server. My personal opinion is that it is provider related. I am with Telus 1GB, ethernet connection here in Canada. It must be the provider. So many have no issues, many do. Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

July 19, 20232 yr I had two yesterday, right in a row, and then no more. It is sporadic when it happens, usually on the weekend.
