July 30, 20232 yr Somebody able to redesign the Worldmap page to make it user-friendly - giving up these blasted nested menus which don't even keep the options from one session to the other - and useful for its purpose : drafting a flight plan. The FS20 World map is a make-believe for the show Edited July 30, 20232 yr by Dominique_K Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam
July 30, 20232 yr The entire interface needs to be scrapped and rewritten. It's clunky, sluggish, obnoxious and clearly designed around a controller. July 30, 20232 yr I totally agree the UI is a bad joke, I made the request some years ago for the World map menus to be user friendly. You have to click 3 times to activate a layer. This should be done in one. I humbly suggest you post this request in their official forum under the Msfs2024 section. This is the place they will most probably look for ideas of improvment. July 30, 20232 yr I would already be happy if the map settings could be saved. cheers, NiIs U.AMD 5800X3D | 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200MHz | RTX 4070 12GB @ 1920x1050px
July 30, 20232 yr Agreed, it's an area that needs attention for the next sim. The bugs, issues and usability are very average at best, it should be the main focal point of the entire UI. The FS20 is a make-believe for the show You're better off making a thread in the official MSFS 2024 forum if you want action on your suggestion: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/c/msfs/msfs-2024/397. The developers from MSFS actually read the threads there. The chances of someone from Asobo/Microsoft who works on the world map, actually reading this thread, is probably close to zero. The only people from the MSFS team that check the Avsim MSFS forum are probably the Working Title folks. Aside from the Working Title folks, I don't really know any developer that frequents the Avsim MSFS forum. I heard there was an MSFS liason like Seedy who may visit Avsim, but someone like Seedy probably won't bother to report back the change requests. And I doubt the Working Title folks are going to pass on any information not related to their responsibilities (because I once asked Matt to pass on information and he said "no"). There are flaws or insufficiencies which are not related to a specific kind of controller. It is a bad design only or rather a design made by a non simmer. I know they have a liason like Seedy (but not necessarily is Seedy) that posts in the Reddit MSFS forum. But I don't know if that liason actually passes back information to the right people that can make the change. Like I said, I asked Matt from Working Title here at Avsim before if he could pass information to the right team and he said "no" 🤣. So although the Working Title folks do read the threads here at Avsim, I think they won't pass on any information to the key people on the MSFS team (to be fair, it's not their responsibility to pass on information). If you have an issue with the avionics/systems that Working Title worked on though, I think it's okay to post here because we know the Working Title folks do read the threads here. As for other non-Working Title changes, I suggest posting at the correct sub forums at the official MSFS forums. Jorg and the other developers are most likely to read the requests there. July 30, 20232 yr This is what excites me most about FS2024 - a new version is the opportunity to rethink everything from the ground up.They've stated they want the client to be as light weight as possible - I'd be surprised if they didn't rebuild the main executable and the UI with that in mind. Not just the map, but also the aircraft library, content library, etc... The aircraft library in particular is really no better than it was in FSX: Here's hoping they come up with something better than a huge scrolling list of planes with filters that aren't very helpful. Letting the user create their own tags would be super helpful (favs, fav long haul, fast single engine, ..).. Many many other ways to make the list easier to navigate. Very hard to change core elements within a SU / patch - but a new version is by definition a rewrite of the main program. Curious to see what they come up with having learned some lessons this time around.
