a imperative recruitment for FS2024

Bob's kidding is really sort of correct.  The only use of the world map for me, is to plop myself down in the sim world somewhere.  And that's only because I have to use it for that.  I'd gladly skip that annoying screen if I could.

I just posted in your MSFS forum thread, that it's more of a feature request.  Although you could say it's a bug fix request also, because sometimes the UI "jumps" and you mis-click an airport as a result.  Also if you select a time to fly FIRST, followed by a location, it resets your selected time, which isn't a huge deal but it is a tad annoying.

The world map is a good feature that shouldn't go away but it needs a lot of optimization

@Dominique_K there is actually a work-around for keeping settings betwixt sessions.

German youtuber Jaydee posted a video recently on it and also made a community folder mod for the purpose. It is on FS.to.

(Not saying the World Map is great or anything controversial like that)

Oh I know that there are hacks, oops I mean workarounds, to improve things. The simmer community is not short of smart people 😉

I am very cautious  with these though. The only advantage of being old is  - as the old simmer saying goes -  ‘been there, done that, got the CTD’.

Seriously, they need to redo the whole thing. You have a page which is if not useless at least an exercise in frustration.

I would already be happy if the map settings could be saved.

Several mentions of this, but no description of what it means.  I'll take a stab at one aspect of it.  An aspect that somehow baffles MSFS support.

Simple.  In the drop-down/search list for the Select Departure airport, at least list the most recent airport you landed at.  Isn't that the most typical starting point for the next flight?  Instead the interface lists that most recent destination airport over in the Select Arrival dropdown.  I guess they believe "...Oh that was so much fun I'll do it again!"    Either that or they are attempting to ease the pain of CTD's!

The world map should definitely stay.  I just wish it would remember favourite locations.

the WP is definitely great, it needs a makeover guided by a focus group of simmers 😉

I have never even used the world map. What does it do?

The only use it provides is to place you at a departure point.  All other functionality is available and more functional on other screens.

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

In general, the world map is great. It helps to search for glider spots, heliports, water runways and such. But the usability is really pain. No favorites, stored routes and such.

My assumption is that it is internally considered feature complete for FS2020.

Same applies for the hangar that is also useless and disconnected from plane selection.

I expect both get some significant uplift in 2024.

With career paths and wear & tear for owned airplanes the  UI really needs an overhaul…
