Rolling Cache ?

Featured Replies

hi all, does anyone know if rolling cache just stores scenery files or everything. the reason i ask is i only really fly the Fenix, and the panning lag ,small freeze etc is boring , and just wondered if the Cache would help , tried most things  but cant get it down to an agreeable level ?

cheers

Doubt it. Panning stutters are something else. Running 'Off Screen Terrain Pre-Caching' on Ultra can in some cases solve that stuttering for a lot of people, however it will lower your overall FPS, as it renders everything around you, thus cutting down on having to render it as you look around.

I am getting these small freezes now in SU13 beta.  Rolling cache normally creates more problems that it solves though unfortunately.

maybe a bit of motion blur and a bit of pre cache , will try it now

To be honest its better, good improvement over before

Off screen terrain pre-cache = High

motion blur = low

worth a go

Rolling cache has been a pain in the balls for me, I'd fly into an insanely dense area (LA NY etc) and Id get studders like crazy, soon as I turned it off, it was fine .

I've used the rolling cache on and off over the years and generally found it to be more trouble than it's worth.  I generally leave it off now.

I've found it causing stutters, CTDs and longer loading times but may put it back on for the occasional test/trial.

The rolling cache even if you have it disabled can still cause issues. I was having texture glitches on the world map. Zooming in and out caused random areas of textures to pop into a different LOD. L.A. on the world map was just some perfectly lined out texture and didn't blend in with the surrounding mountain textures etc..

I was having similar issues in game itself. Random ground textures seemed to overlap and fight each other.

Cleared the rolling cache which has been disabled forever and the problem was solved.

I cant stop the panning lags , tried different drivers , settings  g-force exp  installed and not , loads of different combinations in the NCP and in sim . I am beginning to think its my cheap 4k tv ( LG 60hz) this is with 5800x3d+4090, to be honest installing gforce exp and hitting auto optimise did help some but the gpu was running at 99/100 % which i dont like ,and the room was turning into a sauna so uninstalled it again . ??? iam out of ideas maybe its the sim

Reset MSFS Graphics settings to Ultra, clear the rolling cache (even if it's off) and the shader's cache, reset NVCP settings to default.

You should not experience this kind of issue with your config.

Is it only with the Fenix A320 with the lags? How about the PMDG? Frame Generation may help if you have the 4090. It is not the monitor. I Have a 144Hz G-Sync monitor and have the issues.

i don't have the pmdg i will try with other aircraft though, could possibly be the displays in the Fenix causing it ?
