Why HUGE Frame Drops when visually nothing there

I sometimes get a random freeze for 4 or 5 seconds while the sim is doing something, and it has nothing to do with framerate or the capability of your computer.  I think it is more to do with the sim pausing to load or accessing the internet / MSFS server.

I’ve always had this since the sim was released. So annoying.

If that's the case then I think I've been chasing elusive rainbows while trying to work out why I'm getting a frame rate down spike when I rotate the view. I have placed the stock Cessna in the middle of the desert in Australia miles from other airfields or even overhead traffic, at daytime with no weather, no wind and the aircraft cold and dark. I have emptied my community folder, upgraded my bios and Nvidea drivers and checked for parallel spikes across the CPU's in task manager.  Nothing I have tried or done has made one iota of difference. Rotate the view from outside the aircraft and it will get at least two stutters/spikes, which momentarily drops framerates. It happens for internal views too and is damned annoying. It doesn't sound exactly the same as the OPs problem but it does seem to be very similar and a lot of us seem to have these random sort of FPS/stutter issues. As @bobcat999 says ,  it may be "more to do with the sim pausing to load or accessing the internet / MSFS server."

In which case I might just stop chasing my tail on this one and reluctantly accept that MSFS is just not silky smooth for some of us.

Cheers

No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.

Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower!

If you disable photogrammetry, does the problem persist?

I also get this huge spikes and frame drops from time to time, and some of them are at the same places, typically before the threshold at some airports, they are very annoying, but I have noticed that the ones that are in the same places disappear when i used DX12 and DLSS, i wonder why?

You're right for the threshold of runway. I don't have a butter smooth approach and right when the wheels touch down I'm  dropping frames and stutters and ruins immersion. What's the lending doesn't seem so smooth anymore.

I would start by removing all addons and see if the problem persisted, then gradually put all the addons back until the problem recurred.  That way you will have an idea of whether the cause is an add-on or two conflicting add-ons.

I’d recommend that. I was chasing stutters way back in FS9 😁 there comes a time when you have to say, no more. And just enjoy what you have achieved.

Things have gotten a lot better, and I haven't had any stuttering issues or major drop in frames with the 4080 installed.

Never see this and perceivable stutters now down to 0-5 per 2h flight, maybe averaging 3, and these are very brief, and this is on all Ultra settings with less that highest end hardware.

So what stopped the stutters was a GPU upgrade?

I couldn't get the major drops to stop, with the 3070 that I had. Could my 3070 have had some issues maybe, cause others with 3070 didn't have those issues. I was planning on upgrading the GPU and I have the money for it finally. The issues are no longer there at least for the last 3 flights I have had with the same scenario from this post on the 4080.
