Bit the bullet and ordered a new Computer

Been years since I brought a new computer..lets just say the 1080 was freshly released. So as I am building a new simpit decided it was time for the upgrade. Feeling good about my new purchase.

System Memory: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz Kingston FURY Beast RGB
Power Supply: 1000W Digital Storm Performance Series (Semi-Modular) (80 Plus Gold)
Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) (NVM Express)
Storage Set 2: 1x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) (NVM Express)
Storage Set 3: 1x SSD (4TB Samsung 870 EVO)
Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 4090 24GB

Looks like a cracking PC. Not sure who makes Digital Storm PSU's, that's the only query I would have.

We do have a hardware forum, so this might be moved there. 🙂

A nice system but In Australia a system with those specs would set you back something north of 6500 AUD and on top of that you need to a CPU cooler and a well ventilated case maybe over 7000 AUD total if you built it yourself. Oh I forgot you may also need a monitor so another 500 -1000 AUD or whatever.  It is an expensive business!  In my case I am going to have to reuse a lot of parts from my existing system - case, M.2/SSD drives, DDR4 ram, CPU cooler, monitor etc for it to add up financially.  But having paired these recycled parts with a 13900K or perhaps a 14700K (200 AUD cheaper), an ASUS Strix DDR4 MB and an RTX 4090 (this will be two thirds of the total cost) I would expect to get performance not much different from what the above specs should deliver.

Considering its his  money,  maybe  he  can afford  2  of  these 🙂  and  besides  we don't  know  what specs  his  pc  is  so maybe  he  need  a  whole  new  build,  and  he  can  sell his  other  pc  as well or  trade  it  to  build  the new  one

I'm building a mobile simpit to use in the winter and put away in the summer. Just yesterday I finished the platform as I build out the panel separately. Its a hybrid design with the looks of a Cessna on the outside and Piper Comanche on the inside. The idea is to have the A2A Comanche in MSFS and the Default Baron REP in XPlane. When its all finished I plan to share a look at all what Ive done but heres some pics of the start.

Man do I wish but no, this is a huge hit to the wallet. I've been looking forward to this upgrade for a few years. I also fly VR so looking forward to seeing the improvements in this area as well. I'll keep my old system as its still a great workhorse for video editing and what not.

@Ident, your system is very close to mine running a different sim - P3Dv5.3.

I’m delighted with the performance at all airports and with up to 200 Ai aircraft populating the busiest airports performance remains excellent.

Running at 4K on a 32” monitor I keep my fps to 30 via VSync at a native 30Hz display. It’s quite noticeable that even at medium sized airports the GPU is utilised more than I imagined. Probably because of Enhanced Atmospherics being enabled which pushes a lot of work onto the GPU. My previous 1080Ti was fine for several years but not fit now.

That’s a great setup. Enjoy your new system. 👍

I don't want to rain on your parade, but my experience with upgrades is that I've said the same thing 2-3 times. 🙂

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).
