November 11, 20232 yr Author It was recommended that I buy the premium deluxe version of msfs. There is quite a price difference. Does everyone recommend that? I'm on PC. If I buy the standard via steam is it possible to upgrade later for just the difference in price or to upgrade you got to pay full price? Is there a way to get discounted prices?

It is more expensive to upgrade later. You get alot with the Premium deluxe, more airports and aircraft. Well worth it.

That is good to know. I was just wondering because there is a new simulator coming out next year. The Longitude does look interesting
November 12, 20232 yr Author I bought the msfs premium deluxe via steam. I installed the installer. Now I'm trying to install the sim and I get that title page and the music playing. However, its not showing me an indicator of how much progress my installation is making? Is that normal or did the download hang? On steam it says it is running.

Kinda up to you if you want to spend extra for premium 2020. I found it very worth it, especially after the avionics update came out and turned the Cessna Longitude into a real gem. I'd definitely recommend getting the top version of 2024 when it comes out though. Just the discounts on DLC planes alone have made it worth it, much less the extra planes. November 12, 20232 yr Author When I go to buy the pmdg or fenix is there a preferred way to purchase those aircraft? Like should I just go directly to their websites?
November 12, 20232 yr I would give it a go and see how you like it for a bit. Use those old peripherals haha and give it a shot. I moved away from the other sims as this one, even with some of its flaws or physics, is actually quite good. This really depends on the fidelity of the aircraft. 7800+4090+64ram Just Flight RJ, 146 and F28, Piper Arrows ---A2A Aerostar and Comanche---Black Square Starship, Duke(s), TBM, Bonanza/BaronV2, KingAir---FSReborn FSR500---COWS Da42---FX P180, HJet & VJet---FlySimWare Chancellor and LearJet---FlightSimStudio EMB175 &P2006T---Fenix 320---PMDG DC6, 737(700+900), 777---C22J---Milviz Cessna 310 & Porter---SimWorksStudios Kodiak, PC12, Zenith & RV14---BigRadials Goose---IndiaFoxEcho MB3339+F35.

I have only bought externally, as the marketplace takes longer, I believe, to approve and add products via MS/Asobo. Some add-ons are not on the marketplace, Fenix is one of them. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired

I bought the Honda Jet today, but I have to say, despite some extras, the Longitude and CJ4 are rather comparable. I would tell anyone who is new to play around with the default improved aircraft to see how it goes. I took the Cessna 172 up (analog gauge) and it was decent. Some default planes are c*** though. The default SR22 is a joke. WT is improving it, so hopefully it'll be better. The default helicopters are even decent. I say decent because they're fun to tinker with, but they aren't in-depth simulations. Believe me, I'd never touch a default aircraft prior to MSFS 2020, unless I was desperately trying to resolve a terrain issue or something. November 12, 20232 yr @red259 Congrats on getting the Premium Edition on Steam - that's what I would have recommended too. After almost two years, not one problem with updating the sim or buying add-ons through the in-game Marketplace. Best flight simulator I've ever owned. As for not seeing the download progress, I have that happen sometimes when downloading updates Try going to windowed mode or back to full screen, minimize the window, or click on the task bar. It usually sorts it out. Welcome to MSFS2020! 👍 Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
